I received this e-mail October 29th:
"Dear valued MSN®Direct One-Time Payment customer,
We are writing to let you know that MSN Direct service will no longer be available after January 1st, 2012. To continue to receive service until then there is no action required on your part. You will automatically continue to enjoy the full benefits of MSN Direct, along with service and support, up until that date.
Changes in the marketplace, device capability and alternative network availability have all contributed to reduced demand for the MSN Direct services. Despite good initial adoption, Microsoft has made the decision to end transmission of MSN Direct services on January 1st, 2012.
One-Time Payment customers will automatically receive a prorated refund after January 1st, 2012 to the credit card account we have on file, for any unused portion of their subscription. No action is required for eligible customers to receive this refund. The unused portion for the One-Time Payment is calculated based on a 3-year term from the time of purchase. To update your billing information, please visit Billing & Account Management. More information on refund requests and MSN Direct services can be found at: http://www.msndirect.com/MSNDirectServiceAnnouncement.aspx.
Thank you for using MSN Direct services.

My husband wants a Garmin GPS for his pickup truck and I have no idea what to buy? Please help

I need help deciding what to buy for my husband. He travels quite a bit. He does go through small towns and larger ones. I just have no idea what to buy for him., He wants a Garmin that is all that I know. Some people have said to buy a Garmin nuvi??? Thanks for your help.no
If you want real time traffic DO NOT BUY A GARMIN The MSN DIRECT service ends Jan 01, 2012. http://www.msndirect.com/MSNDirectServiceAnnouncement.aspx.

If he travel to large cities with tall building the TomTom 930 is the way to go since it has an inertial monitoring unit that retains your current position. I have a GARMIN NUVI 780 (the top of the line a year ago) and now two TomTom 930s. The only thing I use my Garmin for now is, if I don't know the city my street or intersection is in I look it up on my Garmin and then plug the city into my TomTom and the Garmin then goes back into the glove box. (The TomTom does not allow you to search an entire state for a street) Even before the garmin announced MSN direct going away, I bought a second TomTom for my wife since the real time traffic was so much better on the TomTom. Also in cities like Chicago specifically, the Garmin was worthless since it was unable to get a satellite signal but the TomTom without a satellite signal still knew my location. I had the TOMTom 930 and Garmin 780 side by side on my dash for ~6 months in Washington DC to see whch one worked best. The Garmin has easier menus but once you know where TomTom hides all of its features in the sub menus it is a much better navigation system. For example, the Cancel Current Route on a TomTom is three menus deep!
