I'm not really one for classical music on a daily basis, but I was lucky enough to be able to hear this and it may have changed my mind. The first time I received the CD, I popped it in after a really long day at work while I worked on the computer. Not only was it great, quiet, relaxing background music, but I may even listen to it in the car on it's own.
I Loves You Porgy was like listening to soulful dancing. Come Again was formal and soft, simply delightful. Para Ti is nice and upbeat and just makes you want to dance. My Funny Valentine was simple and beautiful, with ethereal vocals, very meditative.
While I love The Beatles Eleanor Rigby, I did not like this version. It was too fast and overpowering and was not one of my favorite remakes.
Il Postino flows gently like rippling water. Look Away is great, I loved the sound of the "plucking" strings.
While there were a few miscues in there (some of the music doesn't "fit" together), overall a great CD. Definitely a must-listen.

I was pleasantly surprised by Diane's voice from the moment the CD started. She reminds me a bit of a little Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone and even a touch of Aretha Franklin thrown in for good measure.
The songs have a fairly common sound to them, but a couple of the standout tracks in my mind were Valentino, which had a fun, upbeat, peppy sound to it and had me tapping my toes; Fools, which is the one that reminds me a bit of Aretha; and Rise Up, which gave me a visual of having good conversation over a drink in a nice bar with friends.
Don't Wait Up was a fun, sassy song that I thought had a lot of "spunk" to it. I also enjoyed Mirror Mirror, which sounded like a musical fairytale. It was thoughtful and soft.
Overall, a good CD and I'd probably check her out again in the future.
