King of Kong? King of Documentaries!
on June 24, 2009
Posted by: filmmaker
This documentary was unlike anything else I had ever seen in that genre, let alone movies in general. I found that I was so emotionally invested with the character of Steve Webe and was cheering him on the entire time. This is yet another great film that was just underrated when it should be seen by everyone. IT IS EPIC.
Everything is executed perfectly. Story, information, background on the characters, tensions, comedy, everything. You can't not feel the emotional rollercoaster Steve is.
Steve Webe is my hero. No doubts about that, and if you see this documentary, which definately does NOT fall into the category of "boring docs," you can see why for yourself!
What's great about it: Absolutely everything. Steve Webe is my hero.
What's not so great: Can't even dream of anything bad.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Shame In It's Underrating, Gran Torino
on June 24, 2009
Posted by: filmmaker
I feel that this film is strong enough to last as a classic, not only because of the star (Clint Eastwood) and his legacy, but because the story is grand. If you are ever looking for a film for an escape, I highly recommend this film. I recommend this so much that in fact, I can't even describe how great it was in this short review.
It's a shame that Gran Torino was underrated. It should have been nominated if not WON the Oscars for Best Screenplay and Best Picture. This is coming from a filmmaker!
What's great about it: All around terrific film with a deep story and everything else that's just perfect.
What's not so great: Special features on the DVD needed to be less about cars, more about the film's production.
I would recommend this to a friend!
