I gotta say, after all the hype, I'm really disappointed. I can't believe how little mission you get for $60. I'm glad I picked up a $10 gift card when I bought this, cause after 4 whole hours from beginning to end, I gotta say I'm feeling pretty jipped.
Yeah, the online play is still great (when the server isn't constantly crashing. Hopefully they'll have this fixed soon), but with so many other great shooters out there, I expected a lot more.
The story is a total mess. You play as four different characters by the end, (SPOILER: all of whom die off), and the level where you play as an undercover agent / terrorist slaughtering civilians wasn't cool, fun or interesting, it was just uncomfortable. I'm guessing they thought it was going to be edgy and controversial, but it just takes the story to an ugly place when it's already confusing and really just generally uninteresting. I guess they thought this would help, but it really just torpedoed the whole game for me. There's no sense of accomplishment or victory at the end, I just felt like I'd played the first act of a confusing, unfinished game.
Overall, I say save your money for Assassin's Creed next week. After the previews I've seen, with all the new ways to assassinate bad guys, interesting side missions and a great looking story involving cool inventions by Davinci, I have little doubt it's going to seriously rock the hizouse.
What's great about it: Continuation of COD 4
What's not so great: Way too short, really poorly written
