Outstanding remote and a breeze to set-up

I bought this remote and set it up last night in 45 minutes of so. The reason it took so long is I have an older CD player that I wanted to be able to control with this device. When I first bought the CD player it did not come with a remote but this 700 makes it work as though it did; To program the remote and set-up macros is ver y, very easy. Just go to the webpage that they make available and tell them the equipment that you will be using. The program will search it out and the new remote will have all the functions like the one that came with it does. It was somewhat of a hassle to return the URC that I bought but they finally did let me exchange for this one. The only drawback is I paid $150 for the URC and it had been on sale recently and they gave me the sale price, It cost me $20 because of that but well worth since the original was a piece of junk. Here is the info on the URC.
Universal Remote Control - Digital Universal Remote - Black/Silver
Model: URC-R50 | SKU: 8993459
DO NOT BUY THE URC. IT IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND A WASTE OF MONEY. The 700 only controls 6 devices. The URC claims to control 18 but I could not get it to control even one.
What's great about it: Ease of set-up. Finds the latest software for the remote and your operating system. Got rid of 7 remotes.
What's not so great: Is a little pricey but got rid of the clutter that the remotes cause. This was a very good purchase. Would buy again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Image is "grainy" on our 46" with direcTV. Can't find setting to correct this. Are we using right cables?

We just bought 46" Insignia LCD, 120hZ HDTV and hooked up to our existing DirectTV. The picture on EVERY channel is grainy and horrible. We played with settings to no avail. All faces look blurry or "grainy" to me. I DO NOT want to "upgrade" to HD channels just to get the best out of my TV. I pay enough as it is!!
We currently are using the regular coaxial cable that was hooked up to our old set and picture on that one was great.
Are we doomed to poor picture quality forever with "regular DirectTV" or are we missing some cables?
We simply used the red, white, and yellow cables for the DVD player and that picture quality was better than the satellite but still not up to what I was expecting. Should we be using some HDMI cable or will that even help if we don't subscribe to HD channels?
I was told by the BB staff that Insignia is made by LG so you would think that it would be comparable in quality. Maybe not.
Please help!!!
You have an HD TV and to get the best performance you need to give it an HD signal. There are times when an HD TV will work fine without the HD signal but more often then not they must have an HD signal. When you do get the HD signal I would also recommend that you use HDMI cables. You bought a TV to get a good pic and experience and to do so you need to upgrade your entire system.

There is not a setting on DirecTV box to correct this nor is there one on the TV either.

Bottom line: You need HD and HDMI to get a good quality picture. You will be thankful that you did. If you are not willing to do this then return the TV and get the cheapest 19" you can find, then disconnect the DirecTV and just get over air stations.

how much would a lg 27in flat screen hd with cabinet go for

I do not understand your question. Do you mean to sell one? If that is your question I would guess that you could between $25-40 for it. If you are talking about buying one I am not familar with LG selling a 27" tv with a cabinet today.

Hitachi repair or replace?

I have a Hitachi, rear projection tv with a 50" screen, Model 50ES1B. Periodically, there is a band/stripe of distortion across the top of the screen (5" or so). It comes and goes. The television is about 15 years old. I am debating whether or not to have it repaired or buy a new one.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Buy a new one. The technology has changed so much in the last 15 years. Trying to get your old TV fixed will cost a fortune if you can even get the parts. At best the TV is worth $50, why spend $5-600 or more to fix something that needs to be replaced anyway. You will be happy with the new TV and will be thankful that you bought it.

Will Blu Ray give me 1080p reception?

1. I have Direct TV wtih Plus Receiver
HD - SD
2. I have a Sony ( 10-28-2008) 46"
Bravia W K46W4100 - W Series TV
LCD Digital

If I purchase a Blu Ray recorder and run my TV through the Blu Ray, will my reception be better.

Am I getting 720p reception without the Blu Ray, or if I hook up to the Blu Ray will I get 1080p?
1080p is only available on some blu ray movies. The reception that you are getting from TV is more then likely 480p. Using a blu ray player will not upconvert the signal to 1080. The TV can only play the signal that you are receiving, which is probably 480i and maybe 480p.

where can i get a c++ prigramming learning tools?

Check Border's or Barnes and Noble. They both have large sections on computers and would be your best bet. You could also try Amazon but I like being able to look inside the book and expecially a learning manual to make sure that the language they are using is not so advanced for me that it becomes a paperweight. Good luck.

Why is there a $25 recycling fee assessed on a TV purchased and delivered in california?

Eventually the TV will be recycled or trashed. They are getting the fee upfront. It is a way for California to insure that regardless of how you dispose of the TV the fee has been paid. If you were to throw it in a companies bulk trash container they would not get the fee. This way when the container is dumped they can get the TV out and recycle knowing that the fee has already been paid.
