This is a very relaxing album. Both classy and classical. The duets are great, especially with Chris Botti, Sting and Kristin Chenoweth. In the third song, "Oblivion", it is beautiful and haunting. "Para Ti" has wonderful brass licks and a difficult unison melody that they play.
The version of "Eleanor Rigby" is a little to 'broadway' for me, but still good.

Okay, in the spirit of full disclosure, I must say that I have never been a big fan of Michael Buble. Yes, he is talented - however, I always saw him as a knockoff of Dean Martin or Bing Crosby...and, not a great one at that...
This album has changed all that. In fact, I immediately started creating a playlist for my MP3 player, as soon as I heard this album. It makes sense, though, since many of the songs were produced by David Foster - who is a musical genius.
The opening song, "Cry Me a River", has great instrumentals, Wonderful brass licks, and is more like what I expect from old-school Harry Connick, Jr. I was pleasantly surprised.
The album just continued to get better. The songs with brass are great, there are wonderful trumpet lines and for the most part this album has a wonderfully romantic feel to it. I was also pleasantly surprised by "Heartache Tonight", which in the past only inspired me to change the station on the radio. No longer. This version is awesome and fun and I can listen to it over and over, again.
The eleventh song, "Baby", is the best version of the song that I have ever heard...and, as a trumpeter, I can't end the review without mentioning "Stardust." To most jazz instrumentalists, this is one of the most boring, required songs they have ever played (me included) and yet - Michael brings a new "old" feeling to the song with the addition of the background singers and the sound of a vinyl album.
There are a few songs that could have been left off of this album. I was not impressed with "All I Do Is Dream" and "Whatever It Takes"...however, this does not stop me from giving this album a 5!!

Brandi Carlile has a great sound, but the album should have been split into two. Half of the album has a folky/country sound and the other half is an interesting, unique Indie sound.
My favorites were "Pride & Joy", "That Year" and "Before it Breaks."
"Before it Breaks" has a beautiful opening...heart-wrenching and poignant. "Pride & Joy" would make a great soundtrack single for a movie, etc. It is very thought-provoking and has a wonderfully haunting melody. Think Roy Orbison with 2 X chromosomes...
I don't really get into country or folk, but as far as that genre goes, she does an excellent job. "Dying" Day" reminds me of a mix of Willie Nelson and Juice Newton. It has pretty harmonies and great lyrics. "Touching the Ground" sounds like a Loretta Lynn throwback with a little Bonnie Raitt added.
All in all, a good album. I think she has a great career ahead of her.

I have had a few chances to review this album and I must say that I am a little disappointed. Generally, HC JR. albums are inventive, original (even if it is a cover) and entertaining...however, with this album, there are only three songs that even remind me of the old Harry.
The first track, "All The Way" is reminiscent of his "We Are In Love" album and has heavy brass licks...definitely 'old school' Harry. I also enjoyed "The Way You Look Tonight" and "Some Enchanted Evening"...however, the remainder of the songs are bland and lack the attention that he normally gives his music. They just sound like covers and boring ones, at that. He spent some time on the first three that I mentioned, and his band really gave them some flair, but the rest of the tracks lack emotion, energy and enthusiasm. It seems as if Harry just wanted to get the album out there and not spend a lot of time on a quality product.
This is unusual for such an accomplished artist. I really think he missed the bar on this album. But, as for singles...tracks 1, 7 and 10 DO hit the mark!
