My first Buble experience - pretty enjoyable
on November 2, 2009

I had never heard anything by Michael Buble before this album, but a close friend of mine is a crazy fan, so I was excited to discover what her obsession was all about. I understand this CD is a bit different for him - the live band in the studio as well as the song selections - but I enjoyed it quite a bit. "Cry Me a River" was fascinating, unlike any version I've heard. I especially liked "Crazy Love" and "Georgia on my Mind." Both were gorgeous and made me melt just a bit. His voice is unique, and his songs range from fun, big band-esque to quiet and simple - no frills needed. It's not exactly my normal style of music, but I can definitely appreciate his talent and creativity. Plus, now I have a new understanding of my friend's love!
What's great about it: good sound, great music
What's not so great: not necessarily my genre of choice
I would recommend this to a friend!

Mom music at its best
on October 20, 2009

I've been a fan of Harry Connick, Jr since his ongoing stint on "Will and Grace," but I've never listened to much of his music. It always struck me as "mom music" - the kind of music that promotes lots of sentiment and nostalgia. I got this CD from One2One and planned on passing it on to my mom after I had listened to it once, but I think I might just have to keep it for myself! Is it cheesy? Yup. Does it promote sentiment and nostalgia? Of course. But the songs are classic and Connick's voice is amazing.
"Besame Mucho" was by far my favorite track - so beautiful. I enjoyed the big band feel of "All the Way" and the interesting take on "Your Song." The only track that I skip over when I listen to the CD is "Can't Help Falling in Love With You." I'm not a fan of the original; the U2 cover is the best, and this doesn't quite compare.
While I probably wouldn't have picked this up for myself (though again, maybe for my ma), I like the album overall and plan to listen to it again.
What's great about it: Classic songs, great voice
What's not so great: Easy listening - not for everyone
I would recommend this to a friend!
