After languishing in post-production hell after Morgan Creek shelved it in favor of dramatic reshoots, Paul Schrader's Exorcist prequel finally makes it to the masses with this DVD release from Warner Bros. Amazingly, the disc comes complete so with a commentary track from the director along with a collection of deleted scenes for viewers to dive into. While the commentary curiously glides over the rift between the revered writer/director and the production company (or more to the point, the head of the production company), the track is an encompassing listen and goes a long way to explain the production's history and the choice of filmmaking techniques. Most interesting are Schrader's thoughts regarding master cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, who came out of retirement for the film only to premiere a theatrical complicated lighting scheme that was more than a bit overwhelming at first, though it does pay off in the end. Speaking of picture, the audio and video transfers are quite stunning, making for an extraordinary viewing experience with its 5.1 Dolby Digital sound and anamorphic 2.35:1 widescreen picture. This DVD is worth a look for anyone who has followed the interesting tale behind the production, which is by all means a far superior film to Renny Harlin's scare-a-minute redo that landed in theaters with a heavy dud.

First came 1985's Return of the Living Dead, the critically-acclaimed Romero follow-up helmed by Alien and Dark Star-guru Dan O'Bannon. Then came successive sequels, released in 1988 and 1993. The latest installment in the series, Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis, debuted on The Sci-Fi Channel and stars screen vet Peter Coyote (E.T., Timerider). When the parents of young Cody (Cory C. Hardrict) suddenly die in a car wreck, he and his siblings are shipped off to stay with Uncle Charlie Griffin (Coyote), a scientist using the trioxin chemical substance (from the previous films) to raise a group of invincible, biogenetic soldiers. Cody doesn't ask questions about his uncle's top-secret project -- that is, until one of Cody's close friends is injured in an automobile accident. When the friend's body is shipped off to Charlie's facility, Cody and his pals break into the lab -- and accidentally set free hordes of zombies. Gorehounds will be awestruck, as stomachs are ripped in half, blood and guts fly through the air, and flesh is devoured. The film also stars John Keefe as Julian Garrison and Jana Kramer as Katie Williams.

A spirit attacks the wealthy Bell family for four years beginning in 1818. The disturbances on their property grow into an aggressive spirit that singles out the father and his only daughter. The family desperately searched for the reason in the hope of finding a way to defeat it, but the spirit continued it's brutal assault. It developed voices and began speaking to the family, but would not say why it was there. Finally, it pronounced a death sentence on the father and within a year, he was dead. Shortly thereafter, the spirit left the family in peace, but never the same. Years later we are taken back to the terrible night the spirit was born and find out the horrific truth about it's nature and origin. Director Courtney Solomon Starring Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, James D'Arcy 91 Minutes.

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment releases this single-disc issue of Vertigo Comics' crass character John Constantine's big-screen debut. Containing the original widescreen presentation of the film, the disc comes with a stunning 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer along with Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks in both English and French. The picture quality is befitting to the unique look of the picture, which only looks better and better as time goes on. The disc not only shines with its fine presentation, but with its inclusion of 18 minutes of deleted scenes that feature an alternate ending and a cut storyline featuring Constantine and Michelle Monaghan as a demon seductress. Director Francis Lawrence provides optional commentary for the scenes, as well as a feature-length track along with producer Akiva Goldsman and screenwriters Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello that provides the viewer with insight on the filmmaking process of this adaptation. Add in the theatrical trailer, and you have a solid release that delivers just enough from the incredible 2 Disc Deluxe Edition to make it a worthwhile single disc investment for those low in the pocketbooks or not interested in substantial bonus features. This film is also available in the less-recommended single-disc full-screen version.

It seems that korn just seems to get worse and worse every album. Don't get me wrong I love their first two albums, but after that I feel it all kind of went to S**t. I mean the 3rd was tollerable. But the forth was just awful. The untouchables wasn't far from that either. Now I must say I did kind of like take a look in the mirror, speaking as a metal head. But then they made untitled and that just was awful, just awful. And now this album is just "pethedic" and "Stupid". They really need to go back to doing heavy stuff, cause really, in my opinion, it doesn't sound good with anyone. I think that this is just a series of albums that are gonna keep getting worse and worse, until they realize they need to stick to heavyness.

why do you critize awesome metal bands/albums
July 18, 2010
i first noticed you saying good stuff about metal bands but in my opinon you are not as open to new music as me you called the world needs a hero by megadeth a dry album which i totally disagree with you stop hating on metal bands and metal music
The album is ok, but it is nothing I would really rave about. It is, in my opinion, probeblly the "dryist" Megadeth album. There wasn''t really anything magical about it. But it's not awful, it's just not magical at all, magical meaning: the solos are bland, the music itself is bland. I don't think I would recomend this album to a friend. If you have to choose between this and another megadeth album, I strongly suggest you choose the other one, cause this album is by far the worst album, as far as the music goes.

This album is a break from the Coldplay normal, but not all breaks are bad. I like this album for its innovation in sound and creativity. No two tracks are the same either. In terms of price though, this album is one of those "almost-rip-offs" because it only has 10 tracks on it.

actually 12 songs if you include the hidden tracks
July 27, 2010
you misscounted theirs only 12 songs on the album if you include the two hidden tracks
This sounds like a cross between R.I.P. and S.F.S.G.S.W. only a little better. The only thing thats lacking is the drums. They are very good but lack the style and creativity that only Menza had. This has to be one of the best CD's of 2009.

shawn drover is in the same league as nick menza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also listened to the whole album on Kid's facebook and it is awesome! He went a total different route with this album leaving his twisted brown trucker band behind. It's a little country and rock but the cd takes on a total different feel from his previous work. So go out and support this album you won't be dissapointed!
