Final Destination 2's macabre roller coaster ride can now be enjoyed on DVD thanks to New Line Cinema's Infinifilm line. The disc is double sided, so the image is available in both widescreen (1.85:1) and standard pan-and-scan versions. Sound options range from Dolby Digital 5.1 to a DTS 6.1 track. Commentary is also provided by director David Ellis, producer Craig Perry, and screenwriters Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber. The discussion is light and insightful, with Perry dominating most of the discussion while giving various insights into the life of a horror producer. This being an Infinifilm release, it's full of other special features, the highlight being the "Bits and Pieces: Bringing Death to Life" documentary. Almost 30 minutes in length, the feature starts off with the history of cinema gore (including some fun interview clips from the "Godfather of Gore" Herschell Gordon Lewis) and then focuses on each Final Destination 2 death and the steps the special effects wizards took to pull them off. You'll also find "The Terror Gauge" -- a neat, but eventually lacking, feature in which a doctor straps a group of kids down while studying their fright levels as they watch the film. The third featurette is probably the most throw-away: "Cheating Death: Beyond & Back," a collection of interviews from various strange folk who've survived near-death experiences. An interested "Fact Track" is supplied, along with the Infinifilm pop-up screen, which lets the viewer go deeper into certain scenes by branching in small featurettes during the film. Some deleted scenes are also offered (with optional commentary), although don't get your hopes up for more blood, as these were mostly filmed for expositional purposes. Finally, the disc contains trailers for not only the two Final Destination films, but also Highwaymen, another road thriller from The Hitcher's director, Robert Harmon. All in all, this gruesome DVD is a home run, although some may find the Infinifilm menus frustratingly hard to navigate. If New Line is to adapt more of their releases with this line, hopefully they will figure out a better menu design.

New Line has produced an excellent DVD package for James Wong's Final Destination, despite the fact that beyond its novel premise the film is just another teen slasher flick of limited appeal. Presented in anamorphic widescreen, the film looks absolutely terrific, maybe as good as home cinema can get. The Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound is impressive on a more subtle level, but is certainly never found wanting. Beyond the so-so theatrical trailer and some DVD-ROM features, there are some fine extras on this disc. Of the two featurettes, the 20-minute study of a real-life psychic is the less interesting, although it may be of real value to anyone interested in the subject. The 13-minute look at test screenings is more compelling, illustrating with humor the enormous bearing they can have on a movie's final edit. This ties in nicely with the inclusion in the deleted scenes section of a strangely sentimental alternate ending, which was passed over after test screenings in favor of the crowd-pleasing ending eventually used. The feature commentary by director Wong, producer Glen Morgan, editor James Coblentz, and (intermittently) writer Jeffrey Reddick is mainly standard fare, but with some good insight and interesting background (apparently Tobey Maguire was the first choice for Devon Sawa's role!). The commentary by Sawa and three of the other cast members is more light-hearted but actually quite dull. A third commentary of sorts is provided on the film's isolated score, with composer Shirley Walker offering a truly fascinating insight into the process of creating music for a motion picture. However silly Final Destination might be as a film, the presentation and content of this DVD are absolutely outstanding.

Scott Spiegel's little-seen gore classic Intruder finally makes its way stateside in all its uncut glory thanks to Wizard Entertainment. While the flick doesn't quite get the attention of an Anchor Bay or Blue Underground release, this disc should still be a top priority sale for anyone lacking the previously released Region 2 version. The kills are indeed intact here, and even though it might not have the most pristine picture or sound quality, it's good enough for now. Seasoned veterans of the film will find some humor in Wizard's blatant attempt to garner more sales with a pasted-in picture on the back of the box of Bruce Campbell, whose screen time equals about a minute in the final moments of the flick.

Maverick auteur Takashi Miike spins this unsettling, blood-soaked yakuza yarn adapted from Hideo Yamamoto's cult manga Koroshiya 1. When mob don Anjo mysteriously disappears, his prot~g~ Kakihara (Tadanobu Asano) vows to find the people responsible. Sporting a blond head of hair and a yawning, pierced slash for a mouth, Kakihara is no ordinary gangster and his methods are equally unorthodox; he impales one poor suspect's naked body on a series of meat hooks and then dumps hot oil on him. Meanwhile, a shadowy character known as Jijii (played by director Shinya Tsukamoto) deftly manipulates, for his own nefarious ends, Ichi (Nao Omori), an unbalanced but ruthless killing machine clad in a superhero suit. Pining for the sadistic abuse of his boss, Kakihara learns of Ichi from a Hong Kong hostess (Alien Sun) and sets out to find this fabled butcher, hoping he can inflict the pain that Kakihara craves. This film was screened at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival as a part of the Midnight Madness program.

It seems that korn just seems to get worse and worse every album. Don't get me wrong I love their first two albums, but after that I feel it all kind of went to S**t. I mean the 3rd was tollerable. But the forth was just awful. The untouchables wasn't far from that either. Now I must say I did kind of like take a look in the mirror, speaking as a metal head. But then they made untitled and that just was awful, just awful. And now this album is just "pethedic" and "Stupid". They really need to go back to doing heavy stuff, cause really, in my opinion, it doesn't sound good with anyone. I think that this is just a series of albums that are gonna keep getting worse and worse, until they realize they need to stick to heavyness.

why do you critize awesome metal bands/albums
July 18, 2010
i first noticed you saying good stuff about metal bands but in my opinon you are not as open to new music as me you called the world needs a hero by megadeth a dry album which i totally disagree with you stop hating on metal bands and metal music
The album is ok, but it is nothing I would really rave about. It is, in my opinion, probeblly the "dryist" Megadeth album. There wasn''t really anything magical about it. But it's not awful, it's just not magical at all, magical meaning: the solos are bland, the music itself is bland. I don't think I would recomend this album to a friend. If you have to choose between this and another megadeth album, I strongly suggest you choose the other one, cause this album is by far the worst album, as far as the music goes.

This album is a break from the Coldplay normal, but not all breaks are bad. I like this album for its innovation in sound and creativity. No two tracks are the same either. In terms of price though, this album is one of those "almost-rip-offs" because it only has 10 tracks on it.

actually 12 songs if you include the hidden tracks
July 27, 2010
you misscounted theirs only 12 songs on the album if you include the two hidden tracks
This sounds like a cross between R.I.P. and S.F.S.G.S.W. only a little better. The only thing thats lacking is the drums. They are very good but lack the style and creativity that only Menza had. This has to be one of the best CD's of 2009.

shawn drover is in the same league as nick menza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also listened to the whole album on Kid's facebook and it is awesome! He went a total different route with this album leaving his twisted brown trucker band behind. It's a little country and rock but the cd takes on a total different feel from his previous work. So go out and support this album you won't be dissapointed!
