Though it makes up for some of the previous edition's mishaps, the Jaws: 30th Anniversary Edition is an almost-perfect DVD that suffers only from a bit of laziness on the part of Universal. Released in 2000 as one of director Steven Spielberg's first blockbusters unveiled on DVD, the Jaws: Collector's Edition was a big seller in the stores, yet still managed to fall short thanks to the studio's unwillingness to include the full two-hour documentary from the laserdisc, long thought of as the definitive look back on the troubled production. So now here comes this two-disc set celebrating the crowd-pleaser's pearl anniversary and the good news is that the documentary has indeed been reinstated to its full glory. Those who have only seen the previous hour-long cut are in for a big treat here, thanks to the incredible detail that was culled from the various sources in the production, including John Williams, Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider, Peter Benchley, production designer Joe Alves, and, of course, Spielberg himself. Another bit of good news involves the inclusion of a never-before-available nine-minute interview on-set with the director from 1974 that gives the audience a rare glimpse of the young director on just his second day of shooting, no doubt already feeling the constraints of the sea-bound production. For aficionados, it's the kind of engaging footage that is endlessly interesting, given the kind of Vietnam hell that followed Spielberg on the rest of the shoot. Other new bits of goodness involve the inclusion of both 5.1 DTS and Dolby tracks (previous versions included either one or the other) along with the infamous original theatrical mono audio track, which will please the hardcore fans out there to no end (many were not happy with the enhanced 5.1 tracks). What isn't pleasing about this edition is the exclusion of the famed theatrical trailers that figured prominently into the success of the film. This lone exclusion will prevent most customers from getting rid of their previous version, which makes little sense in the grand scheme of things given that the rest of the still archives were carried over, including other marketing pieces such as posters, books, T-shirts, and much more. This, along with the fact that no new menus were designed for this edition, just makes Universal look bad. It's like they listened to the gripes about the documentary on the last one, but didn't feel the need to dedicate more money into an anniversary edition of one of the biggest films of all time. The result is yet another DVD that gives the same "play all" feature to the deleted scenes, with the added annoyance of outtakes being thrown into the same feature as well. Though no one will miss the trivia game or the shark facts from the previous version, there will be those who will resent the silliness involved with the loss of the very integral trailers. Still, with the full documentary and the reinstated original mono mix, many will pony up for this release, which comes with a nice commemorative booklet and the same fine 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer carried over from the Widescreen Collector's Edition.

Though it may not have been the Harrison Ford hit that Paramount had hoped for, K-19: The Widowmaker comes to DVD with some nice results. The image, framed at the original aspect ratio of 2.35:1, is anamorphic and exceptional in every way. The subdued colors are very realistic, while the darker blacks, especially during the underwater sequences, are solid. Skin tones are immediately noticeable and are right on target. In addition, the 5.1 English Dolby Digital track is equally impressive. Directional sounds, while infrequent, are still used at precisely the right time and are very effective. Dialogue, including Ford's hit-and-miss accent, is reproduced without distortion and is clear throughout the film. As for extras, they haven't skimped. The highlight would have to be a commentary from director Kathryn Bigelow and director of photography Jeff Cronenweth ; each relates their experiences and the research that was put into this project. In addition, four featurettes are also included. The longest, a 20-minute making-of, accounts for little more than a fluff piece, but still has some nice interviews with the main cast and crew and behind the scenes footage. A 12-minute look at the exacting details of accuracy for this film is also interesting, as are the shorter five-minute featurettes, one on key makeup effects and the other on the miniature effects, though they don't provide much detail. Finally, things are rounded out by the film's theatrical trailer.

intresting debut but loses steam quickly

th cd rocks but it starts off good but quickly loses steam and it seems like demi lovato is screaming and yelling and cussing in the spanish song she also sounds like shes trying to snarl when she sings in spanish but this cd is ok not the best the only reason why i gave this cd 5 stars is because how hott and sexy she is but her music seriously stinks shes hott and sexy and all but cant sing a note if her life depended on it
What's great about it: metallica and megadeth do indeed rock
What's not so great: SYD25 you are wrong and i at least gave demi lovato a chance

Mel Gibson's lush, savage Revolutionary War epic is given the royal treatment in this DVD from Columbia-TriStar. The film is shown in an anamorphic widescreen presentation, which preserves the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. In addition, the digital mastering makes for a clearer picture with crisp, vibrant colors. The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1, so viewers won't miss one thundering musket or crunching cannonball. As for extras, The Patriot does not disappoint. Director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin offer a feature-length commentary that offers some good insights into the making of the picture. The commentary at times seems to be improvised, however, occasionally leading to some distracting asides and in-jokes. The Patriot also offers a host of deleted scenes, which feature an optional commentary and serve to expand some of the film's subplots and characters. Viewers are also treated to three behind-the-scenes featurettes. The first of these offers a tutorial on the creation of the film's gorier special effects, while the other two provide an interesting look at the filmmaker's painstaking efforts to bring American history to life. For fans of the film, this is a must-own. For the uninitiated, it offers an excellent chance to experience The Patriot.

Just keeps getting worse and worse
By soothsayer from houston,tx
It seems that korn just seems to get worse and worse every album.
Don't get me wrong I love their first two albums, but after that I feel it all kind of went to S**t. I mean the 3rd was tollerable. But the forth was just awful. The untouchables wasn't far from that either. Now I must say I did kind of like take a look in the mirror, speaking as a metal head. But then they made untitled and that just was awful, just awful.
And now this album is just "pethedic" and "Stupid". They really need to go back to doing heavy stuff, cause really, in my opinion, it doesn't sound good with anyone. I think that this is just a series of albums that are gonna keep getting worse and worse, until they realize they need to stick to heavyness.

One of the worser Megadeth Albums
By soothsayer from houston,tx
The album is ok, but it is nothing I would really rave about. It is, in my opinion, probeblly the "dryist" Megadeth album. There wasn''t really anything magical about it. But it's not awful, it's just not magical at all, magical meaning: the solos are bland, the music itself is bland.
I don't think I would recomend this album to a friend. If you have to choose between this and another megadeth album, I strongly suggest you choose the other one, cause this album is by far the worst album, as far as the music goes.

A New Sound
By LinkinPark2 from MA
This album is a break from the Coldplay normal, but not all breaks are bad. I like this album for its innovation in sound and creativity. No two tracks are the same either. In terms of price though, this album is one of those "almost-rip-offs" because it only has 10 tracks on it.

The past in the present

This sounds like a cross between R.I.P. and S.F.S.G.S.W. only a little better. The only thing thats lacking is the drums. They are very good but lack the style and creativity that only Menza had. This has to be one of the best CD's of 2009.

I also listened to the whole album on Kid's facebook and it is awesome! He went a total different route with this album leaving his twisted brown trucker band behind. It's a little country and rock but the cd takes on a total different feel from his previous work. So go out and support this album you won't be dissapointed!
