The build quality and features feel like an upgrade to the current 2DS as opposed to a direct comparison to the New 3DS XL. I don't really understand the design changes, but for whatever reason they happened.
The cons..
The speakers have now been moved to the very bottom and point down. This is a huge downgrade and it sounds muffled as if instead of stereo speakers it has 2 mono speakers...if that makes sense. It sounds decent at 1/4 or 1/3 volume, but turn it up any louder and the back of the system actually vibrates. This makes the device feel cheaper than it is. The screens are still low res and add no added upgrade from previous models. The stylus has been shrunk and is an absolute joke to use unless you're a 3yo. If you play anything that uses a stylus regularly, then you'll want to buy a bigger one. There is now a flap that covers the micro sd card and game cartridge, which feels flimsy and makes it more of a pain to change games, but it does protect against dust and makes the system look nicer. The wifi switch is gone and must be toggled via settings. When the system is opened, your fingers will rub against the back of the top screen when using the L & R buttons because of the slimness of the device.

Instead, Nintendo should've just priced dropped the New 3DS XL to $150 instead of releasing this. For $50 more you can get the New 3DS XL with an overall better design (in my opinion), a stylus that fits your hand, much better audio, and an option to use 3D if you want it. If this were released at between $100-$125 and the original wedge design 2DS was discontinued, then it makes more sense. If you've never owned a 3DS and want to jump in for the wonderful library the system has, then either get the cheaper 2DS for $80 or pay $200 and get the overall better system with the New 3DS XL. At $150 this device is just not worth it.

Bought two, different results

The first one I bought was about a month and I love it, so when I saw it was on sale again I went and bought another today. I put them side by side and the new one has a yellowish tint to it and it's taller than the other one. I've tried swapping DVI cables, tried hooking it up to another computer, and tried adjusting the colors to match the first one I bought, but nothing gets rid of the yellow tint it has. Having both next to each other you can easily see the difference in height which is annoying. Sadly, I'll be returning this one tomorrow. One is great, but having two didn't give me good results.

Fantastic screen and build, falty trackpad

The build and design is pretty nice and the sharp display is much better than the washed out TN panel looking low res stuff we are used to seeing on Chromebooks. I have no issues at all with this machine other than the trackpad moves and is pretty much useless. I tried two machines and both had the issue, so I returned them. The trackpad barely works, jumps all around, and moves around like it's not connected properly. I bought this for more lap use on the couch and having a mouse plugged in (which would obviously fix the issue) isn't what I want to do. Fantastic little machine otherwise.

Gets dirty extremely easy

I bought this for my wife along with a couple of other colors and this one got extremely dirty way too easily. She's a teacher, so it's not like she was very active with it. After one day of use the band was turning black.

Looks neat, but cheap

I like the look, but the one I received was clearly used and should not have been sold as new. After receiving it in the mail and unboxing it I could see it was already rubbing off in places. Basically, someone bought it and had this issue and returned it and I got it sold to me as new. I'm returning it as well.

Looks nice, but cheap

I guess you get what you pay for with this one. I got it for under $20 and while it looks nice it feels super flimsy. It was a pain to adjust and test on my wrist before locking the clasp back in place (it needs to be manually moved so it's like something you need 3 hands to do).

Bought it new and received a used one

Sadly, I bought this new online and received a used one that was clearly opened and returned. It has marks and dings all over it and should have been sold as open box. The stand has a nice color, but was too light for me.

Great cheap alternative

Yes, it's cheap. Both in price and build quality, but that's perfectly fine. The 2DS isn't aimed at the hardcore gamer and I think that's what most people seem to forget when they talk about it. This is a great device for those that have no interest in the 3D effect, want an introduction to the 3DS library or have a specific set of games in mind to play, and don't want to break the bank. Since you're getting a game for free (that's at least a $30 value on sale), you're essentially paying $50 for the 2DS itself. I think this is a great device for kids or for those that want to load up a few key games that they care about and don't need all the additional features the more expensive models have.

Slower than expected, short battery life, very hot

The IPS display is nice, though not as bright as I'd like. The battery only lasts a couple of hours which is to be expected from a gaming laptop as is the high amount of heat you'll feel on the keyboard while gaming. Sadly, Windows 10 is very slow for me and I ended up going back to 8.1, which was a huge performance boost. I've read a LOT of articles talking about the hinge being faulty and breaking because it's cheap plastic there, so I'm a bit worried. The saving grace is the styling and video card. It's played most everything I've thrown at it.

This is the best tablet for the price! You get alot for your money. This tablet kills the ipad mini. It has a faster processor, better camera, bigger screen, higher resolution so the screen is more brilliant and brighter. You can have widget's and get free music and on the apple ipad you cant, instead youre stuck with just icons and only two or three screens whereas on this tablet you can have I think up to 7 screens!. I am very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend this product!

They need to add more games or have a way to add more later. What about Moon patrol and a ton of others that were left out. HDMI is great. So why would they make you buy a second controller and not be able to buy more games. I only gave it one star in hopes that they will read this before it is to late.

Just unpacked the computer - I bought this particular model because the detailed specs (Aug 23, 2016) clearly said 2 HDMI outs. But, there is only one. Been on the phone with BB for the last hour trying to work out a solution.

Sadly, it's almost to be expected these days. Best Buy's PC section online is constantly incorrect with wrong specs and I've had to deal with returning multiple products because of it. The best thing to do is find what you want and go to the store to actually check the item yourself. Hopefully you get it resolved.

The great thing about this USB 3.0 drive is it seems to write data at least twice as fast as a USB 2.0 drive even when the socket is USB 2.0
I have never had a problem with the operation of a SanDisk storage device and anticipate no problems with this device.
According to the drive "Properties" tab of this drive the usable capacity of this "64GB" USB 3 drive is 57.8GB. Further the actual max capacity of the drive is 61.481 GB. I suppose the consumer electronics community has this uncontrollable tendency towards hyperbole but really SanDisk, isn't a 6+ GB overstatement of stated capacity a bit much?
I have purchased 20 or so SanDisk USB 2.0 drives over the years and can state that all have worked reasonably well and are still working; a few have gone thru my washer and dryer several times and they still work! I just shake my head in wonder when a provider of quality storage devices so grossly misrepresents a product.

When you buy a storage device (hard drive, flash drive etc) you don't actually get the storage space that's printed on the packaging on account of the difference between how the manufacturer calculates capacity (decimal-based) compared to how a computer calculates it (binary-based). The drive manufacturers will not use the true binary capacity on their packaging because none of them want to be the first to start doing it, since it will make their drives look more expensive per megabyte than the competition. It's normal since storage media manufacturers consider 1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes and digitally the OS counts 1GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes. Therefore the advertised size is and has never been totally correct. This is nothing new.

The keyboard was the type I was looking for, but the salesman said it could be used as Bluetooth. I found it had to have the receiver plugged in for it to work. The salesman assured me since there was a Bluetooth symbol on the box, it was Bluetooth. It is a good keyboard, but I could have gotten the same for less money

I get about 2-3 hours of basic browsing and stuff. Maybe 1 1/2 gaming if I'm lucky. Playing on high performance and full brightness.
