This adapter will work on Windows 7 32 & 64 bit OS machines but you must manually download and install the driver.
Follow these steps and you should do fine--
1. Do not connect the adapter to your PC - just wait we will connect later
2. Visit this web page: http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31 You can see the link for the driver there.
3. Download the driver file: PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v110.zip
4. Unzip the download to see the .exe file
5. Run the exe to install the driver
6. After installing, I would suggest a reboot of your PC - can't hurt
7. Connect the adapter
8. All should work, check out he Windows Device Manager to make sure that the hardware is functioning correctly.
Enjoy!
What's great about it: Does what it should - Provides 9 pin serial port via a USB connection
What's not so great: Had to search for 64 bit drivers
I would recommend this to a friend!

slow computer?

I bought my dell laptop 2 years ago and it's always been slow. i currently use vista, and am thinking about switching to windows 7. i was told that vista runs slow on my computer because i didnt buy enough space. will the switch alone make my computer work faster, or do i also have to add space for it to work effectively?
Your most likely issue will be RAM not "space (disk space)". Early Vista machines did not have enough RAM installed to run. The Microsoft minimums are just that - absolute minimums to get the system up.

Depending on what your hardware platform will support, upgrade to at least 2 to 4 GB of RAM and you should see an improvement.

Also you can download AdAware from Lavasoft to check for malware. If your machine is loaded with malware, popups, etc they are stealing CPU time and you will run slow.
