The theatrically released feature version of this once-popular science fiction television series gets an upgraded release on DVD. Battlestar Galactica has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on widescreen monitors. Viewers have a choice of the original English soundtrack or a dubbed French-language version, both mastered in Dolby Digital Mono. The film is also closed-captioned in English, and bonus features include biographies of the key cast and crew members and notes on the production of the show.

This is just a re-spliced chopped version of the telvsion serios no the theatrical version wich held more content.
What's great about it: Its the original without it half of the show out there would had never been made.
What's not so great: Not theatrical version

Galactica fans rejoice! The original Battlestar Galactica series has finally come home to DVD from Universal Studios Home Video with this pricey DVD Set. Repackaged from the original Cylon head Collector's Box Set released in 2003, this new release forgoes the outrageous packaging in favor of a more shelf-friendly slipcase. The first run of the series is collected in its original broadcast order (they were nice enough to leave out the quite horrible Galactica 1980 continuation series). The picture and sound for each episode has been digitally remastered, with pristine 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound bringing new life to the series, which still holds a firm fan base to this day. The extras for this set are staggering, with over three hours of deleted and alternate scenes for every episode, spread out over six double-sided discs. Even more bonus features can be found on the first disc, starting with the commentary with Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, and Herbert Jefferson Jr. Everyone obviously cherishes the series, as does creator Glen A. Larson and composer Stu Phillips, as evidenced on the "Creation of Battlestar Gallactica" and "Composing the Score" featurettes, also found on the first disc. Skip to the third disc on side two to access even more bonus material in the Inside Battlestar Galactica section, where you can find additional featurettes on working with the Cylons, along with the on-set antics of the three-year-old monkey inside the suit of the robotic dog Daggit. Finally, an expansive 45-minute documentary awaits the viewer on side two of the final disc, where the cast's remaining leads are assembled to share their thoughts from the highly rated premiere all the way through when the plug was unexpectedly pulled on the show. A collector's book rounds out the set, with its comprehensive episode guide alongside some schematics of the ships and photos of the cast. While this release doesn't hold a candle to the original packaging (that new cover is a mess), you still get the complete run of the series, plus some fine extras that do fair justice to the acclaimed sci-fi series.

Battlestar Galactica: Complete Epic Series

Well it only has the as seen on TV begining episodes, the original movie cut had more content and isnt present, but the one movie you can buy threw best buy is not the original movie either just a splashed together of the first few episodes.
And its missing the complete final season from 1980 wich was excepted by the company as the final season, all 10 episodes that aired and were re-put out in 2007 for purches just good luck finding them. Good extras would of been the shot footage of the 11th unfinished episode Cleopatera.
Overal this is a good bundle for the price but its missing allot of the history and lore put out in other episode as if you couldnt tell by the jumping around and unfinished ending in the box set it is far far from the "Complete Epic Series" as advertised. But mainly put out and expect the next generation to think thats all there was.
What's great about it: This is baisicly the original series
What's not so great: Missing beginning content, and final season.
