As a professional, I picked up the 7D as a backup camera, rather than spend $4000.00 on what I'm already shooting with. The 7D is solid, well built and a true performer. Its focusing system is excellent. This camera is marketed for the consumer, but can easily stand up to some serious heavy professional use on a daily basis. I'm impressed. Its the most pricey in its class, but you end up with a camera that will not be out of date for a very long time, plus has a very sturdy long lasting shutter cycle ( 150,000). I highly recommend this as a back up camera for other professionals out there or as the main camera for any prosumer, advanced- amatuer or amatuer photographers out there.
What's great about it: It is very fast
What's not so great: The high price and hefty weight of the camera
I would recommend this to a friend!

Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Wide-Angle Lens:With this ultra-wide-angle lens, you can capture the majesty of a river bend or the sparkle of a skyline without cropping important details out of the frame. This lens functions well in low-light situations.

Sounds like a Warranty Issue to Me.

A Review is how the lens performs, not to hear your sob story about your lens breaking. You give a low rating to one of the best sharpest and highest rated lenses in the photography industry because yours broke? Your review will not help someone decide to purchase this lens as this is not a complaint forum.

Canon EOS 50D or Rebel T1i?

I am a beginner and the budget is about 1000-1500, body and lens. Major use is to take portrait. Movie is not a main concern. Could someone please give me advice on the major differences between the two models? Which one has a better picture quality? Thanks for the help.
Spend your money on the T1i and use the rest of the money to purchase a high quality Canon L Glass lens, like the 50mm F1.4 or even better, the 50mm F1.2 which with the 1.6focal lenght multiplier, the 50mm will make the perfect portrait lens for you. If you are really on a budget, you can get by just fine with a 50mm F1.8 ( The cheapest lens Canon makes) which has very good optics as well.
I would pick up a T2i and the 50mm F1.4 if I were making the purchase for portraits or at least the 50mm F1.8. The 50D is a good camera but the Canon T2i produces superior images--similar to what the Canon 7D puts out. Can't beat it for the buck.

DSLR camera with live view mode?

I'm comparing the three models that are 499.99 (Sony, Nikkon, and Canon). I'm interested in one that has the option of using live view (isn't that where u can view the picture while taking it w/o looking into the lens?) Do any of these have that option?

Thanks!!
They all have live view. The Sony is the fastest for live view.

All DSLR cameras can be used to shoot Panoramas. Some cameras offer automatic photo stitching---Look at Pentax.

Which to buy t2i or t1i

was thinking about buying the t2i or the t1i and was wondering what is the difference between t2i and the t1i besides the video is better. i will just be using it as a camera. so i was wondering if its worth the extra 200.00
Unless you own alot of Canon expensive top of the line L glass, you won't see much difference in the image quality from the T1i and the T2i. Save the 200 bucks and get the T1i. The T2i really needs the best lenses to realize its advantage in optical quality. Shooting with kit lenses, the image quality will actually look worse than the T1i due to the limitations of the lenses.
