This Walkman MP3 player features 8GB* of memory, so you can store your favorite movies and tunes. The large 2" color QVGA screen allows you to easily navigate through functions.

Serious design issues

Great player in many respects that include computer to computer transfer/addition of music without having to erase everything like the IPOD. It doesn't quite have the power that my wife's IPOD has for driving larger headphones, and the difference in sound quality on my Sony noise cancellation headphones is quite noticeable between the 2 players. The addition of a radio tuner is nice. HOWEVER, there is a major issue with this player that Sony can easily address with a firmware upgrade.
You cannot charge this player and play it at the same time through it's minijack! The act of charging the player locks all of its buttons. This seriously limits the player's functionality. When is the last time you saw a portable technology going back to cassette tapes in which you could not use the player while plugged in to a wall socket? Now, If your stereo has a USB input, you can charge and utilize the player's drive as a flashdrive and choose songs to play, but not your playlists or radio. And, since the player creates folders according to artist name as you save music to the player, you can't access all of your songs! This limits playback to the number of songs in the subfolder of a given artist!
This is a terrible design problem, but one easily fixed by a firmware upgrade to the flashdrive. I hope Sony reads this and fixes what could be an outstanding player for a fraction of the cost of an equivalent IPOD.
What's great about it: Price compared to 8gig IPOD
What's not so great: Firmware
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
