I 've had these speakers for little over a month now and they are Great! I tested out Logitech z-2300's and was not impressed due to too much bass, lack of mid ranges, and short sat cables. Besides logitech is known for great PC mice and keyboards. NOT high quality PC speaker systems. At least not to me!
So, I found out about Klipsch(known for making speakers for over sixty years). I believe I've made a good decision to purchase their PC speakers. My games, music, DVDs (movies) roar to life using these speakers. I listen to a variety of music from R&R, R&B, Classical, and Blues. I love the rich and deep bass. Not hard or thumping bass. I set the Main Volume to 10 percent high and keep the sub volume at the notch or a little lower (My Windows volume is set at 50 percent high) and ITS still Loud! Rocks my home! Also, like having controls on main sat for bass and volume to adjust sound. BTW I was able to get speaker while they were on sale!!!!!
I want to point out that I am using a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fata1lty Pro sound card and; using the SB software I am able to adjust my tremble and EQ settings etc. Having a high end sound card really brings out the full sound of these speakers! Highly recommend getting a high quality SC to go with speakers!!!
THX certified is another plus! I have one speaker on my desk and the other speaker on a bookshelf. Speaker wire is long enough to go behind my desk and wall to reach my bookshelf.
One final thought: There are many good reviews and not so good reviews about the Klipsch Promedia system. There have been some defective products but that should not reflect on the hundreds/thousands of klipsch speakers that are EXCELLENT! I recommend purchasing the extented warrenty and YOU will have peace of mind about your investment. I believe that these speakers can give you many years of listening enjoyment--providing that you take "excellent" care of them!!
PS. Others have mentioned that On/Off switch is not in a good place due to it being on the sub. I recommend using a Indoor Plug-In Switch ( Cooper Wiring Devices-- Google) that can be used to power on and off the sub/speakers. This switch is plugged right into your surge protector etc (DO not plug the switch into a wall outlet! You just might have a power surge and fry your sub/speakers). Just flip the switch--- problem solved!!! Good night !
What's great about it: High Mids and Lows, Rich bass, Easy setup, and GREAT sound!

Static/Whooshing
Bystew7
For the first month, these speakers were fantastic. Worked great, looked pretty good, and were extremely loud. One day I turned them on and I heard a loud static/whooshing noise from the right speaker. I thought it might be interference from a different device such as my phone, so I moved it away from all other electronics, but it didn't change it at all. After doing a quick Google search, I found that lots of people have this problem with the Promedia Speakers, and it can never happen, or it can happen at any time. One person had this happen to them after a few years.
Not acceptable for such expensive speakers. I intend to return them to Best Buy tonight and purchase a different brand, (I'm thinking I might pony up a bit more from a nicer product such as Bose).
I would not buy from Klipsch again simply because that is not acceptable that you can charge so much for a "high quality" product, that has a roll of the dice chance of acting up later.

Things do happen!
August 7, 2010
But I 've had my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System since Feb '10 and have not had a problem. Not to say that down the road something could happen but I purchased extended warranty just in case! Sometimes one can get a bad set!! It can happen but no reason to say that it is a common problem(whatever goes wrong with the Promedia's). Also, some people have had their sets for many years without incidents. Others well........
Bottom line is that with any product their can be a defect but I still look at all those Promedia's that are still kicking............................

Did you have a warranty?
October 1, 2010
How long did you have your klipsch? I am assuming that your warranty expired if you had one? Also, how long did you own speaker system? If you owned them for a long period of time, ten years, then they just worn out due to all that good music you listened to LOL.

Problems from day one.
BySt1ckyfromCleburne, TX
Was in the market for new speakers and did a little research only to find that these pro media's were suppose to sound top notch! I mean, 230 ratings with an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars, what could possibly go wrong..? Well, day one, the right speaker sounds really distorted. Even when changing the volume all the way down, the right speaker would never go all the way down, weird. Also when turning volume up, left speaker would get loud, right speaker wouldn't. So perhaps a bad right speaker from the factory? Oh and for the record, I have my speaker with the volume/bass knobs on the left side, it's the speaker without the knobs that was having problems. Anyways, I checked my connections on the back of the subwoofer, unplugged/plugged back in everything and everything seemed to work fine after that, or at least for about a week. Now when I adjust the volume the right speaker sometimes cuts in and out, gets loud then quiet. Usually when I have my volume set the problem goes away and both speakers sound balanced and very clear. With so many positive reviews of these speakers I'll probably just exchange them and try again. However some of the other negative reviews suggest that this type of problem can come at any point even a year down the road which leads me to believe there is a problem at the factory. Perhaps I'll go with a different brand after all. Too bad, they really sound awesome when they work.

Better than Bose
ByMattN1fromChicago, IL
Hands down are better than my Bose sound system. I have a pair of Bose for my entertainment center and didn't want to pay a high value for computer speakers. Went the extra mile and purchased these. I was truly impressed with the bass and sound quality. They are great for streaming television and gaming. The one major flaw I found was there is no way to turn these off. (read below) The second is that the front of the speaker can easily be taken off. The netting isn't screwed in at all. You won't notice this unless you play with it.
NOTE! I went straight to the manufacture and told them that the Best Buy display had an off switch in the back of the sub. Mine did not. It would appear the newer models are never meant to turn off. They use very low watts (1 watt) when the computer is turned off. NEVER unplug these speakers if you want to turn it off. You risk blowing the speaker or shorting it. For the sound quality and affordability I could compromise with the lack of user-friendly functions.

Almost two years later........Still THE best!
November 24, 2011
Brought these back in Feb 2010 and I've had not a single problem! These are awsome speakers to have. I have a Creative SB X-FI FataIty Platinum Champion card; and with the assistance of Klipsch my games, DVDs, and music sound 100% better. High end sound card with high end PC speakers.
If you take extremely care of these speakers, they can and will last for a "very" long time! Also, I have the sub with on/off switch( using a on/off switch I brought and plugged it into my surge protector). If you have the on/off sub, buy a on/off switch and you do not have to leave speakers on!
AGAIN, TAKE VERY CARE OF THESE AND THEY WILL MAKE U VERY HAPPY FOR MANY MANY YEARS. TREAT THEM LIKE A FINE BOTTLE OF WINE OR A ROLLS ROYCE. IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM KLIPSCH IS JUNK!!
PS. I do not need to play my speakers LOUD! Keep the volume knob at 50% and the sub knob at the notch indicated on the pod. I have found that if one does not "play" around with the knobs one will not have that "crackling" noise which is a result of turning the knobs consistanly over time. Put them at 50% and "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THOSE KNOBS". Before I forget, I still have the original box which they came in. It helps to protect your Klipsch if you move etc.
