This is an excellent 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens. It features auto-focus capability and image stabilization. I've not used it a lot yet (it's been raining like cats and dogs here!), but it has "heft" to it - it feels very solid. While it's not Canon's "L" glass, the optics seem to be very good and I'm sure they'll suffice for nearly all users except for top level pros.
What's great about it: High quality, image stabilization.

This is a great camera. I researched and debated between the Nikon 300ds and the Canon EOS 7D. Both are excellent, but the Canon won my heart. I'm grateful that I'd had experience with a DSLR prior to this or I'd have been very confused and frustrated for a long time. The camera is so feature rich that it takes time to learn all the possibilities and how to get the best pictures out of it. I'm still learning! BUT, that being said, it doesn't have to be complicated...it can be set on Automatic, or Creative Auto, or even Program mode, and it's pretty much all done for you. I'd highly recommend this camera as it seems to be a very solid, high quality product. I LOVE IT!!!
What's great about it: A wealth of great capabilities, very high quality construction and images.
What's not so great: It CAN be very complicated...but doesn't have to be. It's not for a first time DSLR user, in my opinion.
