I am an audio engineer, audiophile, involved in audio for 44 years, as a professional musician (44 years) and video producer for the last 22 years.
"What the specs don't state is the frequency range of this system is 20Hz to 20,000 kHz, well beyond most person's hearing perception. However, what cannot be heard, is physically felt, often described as presence.
"The specs also don't state this system is THX certified. If you don't know what that means look it up at wikipedia.
"There is an on/off switch on the back of the subwoofer, as this may not be convenient for some, I suggest, as I did, plugging the end of the power cord into an on/off switch, the toggle type that plugs into an ac outlet, then plug the system into the switch. This will also avoid wearing out the system's switch.
"I have one of the systems in our audio studio and another in our media ( movie/video ) room.
"My experience with this system is excellent audio-wise, longevity-wise. The one in our studio has been left on for 10 consecutive years!
"Note: I built a solid wood 6" riser to keep it off the floor and it has plenty of ventilation. I have the port facing forward, controls toward the back.
"The subwoofer amplifier has finally failed on the one left on in our studio. I am going to buy a replacement, which I hope lasts another 10 years. In fact, I am going to buy two, just in case they stop making this system.
What's great about it: Inexpensive Audiophile Quality System
What's not so great: Not applicable as this is an excellent system.
