I bought this SDHC card for my new iMac, as a second backup for some particularly important files, and also for sneakernet purposes. I'm old enough to find it amazing that you can buy 8GB of storage for $10. It works fine, no problems.

The 3 stars are not for the drive itself, which I'm sure was fine. I recently bought an iMac, my first non-PC, and needed an external drive for it. Went into Best Buy. They were out of the 2TB drives for Macs, but the salesperson told me the reformatting was easy, so I got the PC version. When I got home, I discovered from my web search that the reformatting was anything but easy. I put the drive back in its box unused and returned it to Best Buy in exchange for the Mac version when they got them in a few days later. So the 3 stars are for the Best Buy salesperson giving me poor information.

For the first time in many years, my main computer is an all-in-one desktop (iMac) instead of a laptop with an internal battery, so I needed protection against power failures. Studying the available options at Best Buy, I settled on this product. It was easy to install, and everything plugged into it works fine. I turn it off at night and on in the morning, and the On/Off switch is accessible and responsive. We have not had a power failure since I bought it, so I can't yet report on how well it serves its principal function.
A couple of caveats. It signals a dip in line power with a loud annoying beep, and the trigger for this is very sensitive. I have a laser printer plugged into the same electrical circuit, and every time the heating element in the printer switches on, the UPS screams. I think they could adjust it so that it signals a loss of power rather than just a slight dip.
Second, it has surge protection built in, and the instructions say not to put a surge protector in series with it. But the joules level of the surge protector in the UPS is considerably lower than I have customarily had in my stand-alone surge protectors. I hope it's adequate.
