We use these to protect office computers. They work fine for momentary power outages and allow enough time to shutdown a computer in the event of a blackout. We have dozens of these in place and have never lost any connected equipment due to surges. The life span seems to average about two years.

Nikon states the EN-EL14a provides more photos per charge than the EN-EL14 (although your camera may need a firmware update). I haven't counted photos, but this battery lasts a good while to where I'm very satisfied. You can buy after market batteries much cheaper, but they don't have anywhere near the life of the EN-EL14a. And you can even take advantage of Best Buy's price match guarantee.

This was purchased for occasional use with a digital camcorder. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you need a professional tripod, then spend the money and get on. Otherwise, this model works just fine. It also provides the option to be used as a "monopod". You didn't specify what operating system you have, but it's possible that the cd is not running because autoplay is disabled. Do a google search on how to set up autoplay for your operating system.

Will this work with a treadmill?
My treadmill requires that I plug it into a surge protector for the highest performance. I have noticed that just plugging into the outlet causes the treadmill to drag. I have gotten one APC unit but it caused the flickering of lights, and the treadmill to practically stop. If I purchased this one, would that help solve that problem? Thanks much!
Never plug anything with inductive motors into a UPS.
