The picture on this thing....even without using 4K....is outstanding. The sound is very good though we have it hooked up to a Sony soundbar via HDMI which also works very well.
The smart capabilities of it are numerous. Netflix is flawless. Hulu skips and hiccups every once in a while but once you're expecting it, it doen't bother you....so much.

what is necessary to stream movies,etc. on the tv?
i want to stream movies onto the tv without interrupting computer use. do i connect directly to the broadband that works from a phone jack? if so, how? would that require a smart tv? it was suggested to just get a dumb tv with a hdmi port(mine has s-port) and use a cable direct from the pc to the tv, but that would interrupt computer, right?
You are right...hooking your computer to your tv wouldn't work.
You would need to get a smart TV using either wireless or LAN cable from your router or modem. I have two TVs in my house hooked up that way and it works great.
