Are there any USB or wireless webcams that have a slimming effect, rather than the usual wide-angle view that adds 10 pounds (and makes my face look fat)?

Is there any way to test the USB ports on a laptop?
I like to use an external mouse for my laptop but all of a sudden my mouse just quit working today. It's a wireless USB laser mouse. I checked the batteries and they are fine. So I went and bought a new optical wireless mouse. Set it up and "it" doesn't work either. I'm so frustrated because I hate using the built-in mouse on my laptop. I also noticed that my mouse isn't listed under mouse in the control panel now either. Any idea what could have happened all of a sudden??
