Improved graphics and fun gameplay

I wanted a more kid-friendly gaming system than Playstation or Xbox. Wii U is it. The graphics are greatly improved and my kids love the new game controller. Although we bought some additional games for the Wii U, my kids have primarily played the 2 that came with the system - Nintendoland and Super Mario 3D World. Many of the games for the Wii U are under $20 now.

Foo Fighters doing album rock

Sonic Highways is a solid rock album from the Foo Fighters. Other than "The Feast and the Famine", these songs trade intensity for seriousness, which makes sense now that Uncle Dave is an elder statesman of rock. All the songs are instantly recognizable and memorable, if not particularly original.

Surprisingly solid comeback album

Indie Cindy is the first album of new music in 20 years from the Pixies. Minus bassist Kim Deal (for now), the dynamic that made the Pixies hugely influential in alternative music was in question. And the first single released, Bagboy, was a little annoying and seemed like a joke. But the album actually ended up pretty good. There is a sophistication (albeit a loopy sophistication) to the songs that one really should expect from guys this age.

Easy surround sound speakers for Sonos

We bought these as rear surround sound speakers to go with our Sonos Playbar. We have Sonos for years and love the ability to play our personal music collection or to stream Spotify anywhere we place a speaker. As with other Sonos components, the 2 Play:1 speakers were easy to set up. The sound can be subtle at times, calling into question if they are even working, but that may be either our placement (on a shelf about 8 foot high and 10 feet behind the sofa) and what audio message for some television. Since they are set up as surround sound speakers, they are not identified as separate speakers in Sonos - if we're playing music, they tethered to the Playbar and won't play by themselves.

A soundbar that connects to my TV and Sonos

I have been using Sonos for years. We finally got a new TV with an optical audio out, so I bought the Playbar. It does what we want: it's a dual speaker soundbar for the TV and gives us Sonos speakers in out living room. The interaction between the Playbar and my new Panasonic TV isn't ideal (I can't turn off the TV's speakers, and the TV remote can control the Playbar volume as the TV).
