Something just isn't clicking here

Suffering from many of the same problems as Sorkin's 'The Newsroom' this is an intriguing concept let down by a cinematic world that seems to treat women incredibly poorly (even Kate Winslet's Joanna Hoffman). The special features however reveal the vision of both Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin that perhaps needed more time and care to make this a great film.

Overrated, but still strong

To me the film itself is overrated and doesn't do much that hasn't been done already, but the cast is top notch, with Mark Ruffalo, Stanley Tucci and Michael Keaton being the stand outs. For me it suffered from coming out the same year as the superior 'The Big Short' but still manages to make an impression. Shame the special features on this Blu-ray are so...limited :\

Skip the theatrical cut...go unrated

Simply put the muted theatrical cut isn't worthwhile, go straight for the far more interesting and brutal unrated cut (how it was seen outside the US before 20th Century Fox wimped out on it). Liam Neeson is on top form, proving older guys can still kick some a**.

The idea is there; a somewhat new spin on the Dracula saga, with Luke Evans proving a good casting decision, though saddled with a weak script and too much going on in each scene. Worth a look, but unlikely to proceed with the clearly set up sequel.
