Nice Sequel with above avg 3D

To me, this doesn't quite measure up to the original or even the second Despicable Me. Now I understand this is focused on minions rather than the central villain character, but the premise of the movie Remains the Same - quirky characters, simple plot and humor that's targeting a wide range of ages. The movie does not disappoint but is certainly not the best in the franchise.
I have to admit, I bought this movie Mostly for the 3D aspect. It is above average but on par with other despicable Me's comma and not as good as some DreamWork titles or Sammy's movies. The color pallet is bright and pops vividly on my active Samsung LED and Vivitek H1186 3D projector.

Better than other Marvel features

The story leaves a bit to be desired and is a bit too silly at times. The more times I view this film the more I question director's decisions for certain screen shots.
With that said, 3D is very solid in this one with plenty of depth and an occasional pop out. I wish they used the medium the max during shrinkage sequences. Very solid nonetheless!
Not 5* because this is the first 3D steelbook that wasn't discounted on release day. I think I paid $24.99 or $27.99.

Cloudy 2 is a worthy sequel

While 3D is not to the level of Coraline or Hugo, it is relatively consistent in depth and layer separation. Would like to have seen more pop outs. Overall, contributes to the enjoyment of the movie. I would never watch this again in 2D.

Even though this movie won multiple awards I did not feel compelled to see it until I saw it recommended by Psychology professors and students. I incorporated this movie into my PSY101 curriculum and the students absolutely loved it.
