The film is an interesting mystery that opens with a young woman who is in a car accident waking to find herself in a bunker with John Goodman, who assures her that she's safe, but cannot leave, as there's been an extensive chemical attack that's left the outside world tainted for the foreseeable future. There's another random guy staying there who had apparently begged his way inside, making for an odd little threesome to try to tentatively get used to one another for the weird duration, but everyone (audience included) is left wondering what the real truth is, because our host just seems to have some strange mannerisms for a survivalist with good intentions, and that's what keeps things interesting on the back side of the film. I really dug it and it does indeed feel as if it could take place in the same world as the original Cloverfield film, perhaps taking place after the NYC action in another part of that world? Good stuff and well worth a look.

I have to admit, these Best Buy Exclusive Steelbooks are a big draw for me, and when they're coupled with a movie that I was going to blind buy anyway, it makes them hard to resist.
This was a really fun and vulgar little action romp, and I'd recommend it to any fans of Ryan Reynolds.

Having picked up the recent Best Buy Steelbook exclusives for the other Daniel Craig Bond films, this one was a no-brainer, and I have to say that I do indeed love the packaging. It looks lovely on the shelf. That said, the film itself is a bit of a bore on certain levels, as it meanders a bit to get to where we need to be, and our Bond Girl just isn't all that interesting either, if I'm being honest in the context of the series. It's definitely worth a look for fans, but wouldn't be a great starting point for anyone new.

Ant-Man was a film that I skipped theatrically due to not being familiar with the source material and the various mixed reviews that it received, but it turned out to be a lot of fun, clever and filled with some great action bits. Well worth tracking down the Steelbook packaging, as it's a cute nod to the plot of the film.

Skyfall has become my favorite Bond film since first catching it theatrically, and I was somewhat loathe to double dip with another purchase, but the neat Steelbook packaging is an easy way to sucker me in. Great film and a cool method of displaying it.

Inside Amy Schumer is a great show that the wife and I fell in love with when it first hit the air in 2013, and it continues to impress with each new season.
The skits manage a great mix of social commentary interspersed with bits from her stand-up, and all fans of edgy humor should definitely check this out.

Archer season five really kicks things up for the show by changing gears completely and flipping the nature of the show from a comedic spy thriller and taking it into the neighborhood of '80s favorite Miami Vice. Hilarious stuff and well worth a look.

I went into this film hooping to rekindle my love of horror in the vein of The Blair Witch Project, and I suppose that's something this shot for as well, even going so far as to use entire lines from that film when something FINALLY happens in the film and they scamper from their tent in the night. The problem is that up to that point you're basically following around a couple as she humors his belief in Bigfoot and ponders how she could be a skeptic, which grows tedious after about, oh let's say 10 minutes or so.
The final 10-15 minutes of actual action or tension are absolutely not worth the wait. Sorry Bobcat, I wanted to like this turkey, but this did NOTHING for me.

The BBC continue their wonderfully updated modern take on Sherlock Holmes with a third series, which manages to bring a major character back from the dead, marry someone off and make you look at someone in a whole new light. Well worth a look.

In 1972-before the internet-Deep Throat was a phenomenon The first scripted pornographic theatrical feature film, featuring a story, some jokes, and an unknown star, Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried). Escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the high-life when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard). As Linda Lovelace she became an international sensation, fully inhabiting her new identity, Linda became an enthusiastic spokesperson for sexual freedom. Six years later she presented another, utterly contradictory, narrative to the world-and herself as the survivor of a far darker story.

This turned out to be a watchable biopic about the late, great Linda Lovelace, but I was definitely disappointed to see that they'd sanitized the film quite a bit compared to the actual history of the woman in question, but I suppose that's what you'll end up with when dealing with the Hollywood system in relation to something this sleazy.

What's great about it: An interesting look at the seedier side of the '70s...
What's not so great: There's a lot of the story missing...
