Some people get a little confused by this movie because its a "film within a film" as they say about a guy making a movie about his own life but if you get past that minor detail you'll like it. Personally I would have liked it better emotionally if it hadn't had that element because I found it a bit disjointing-sort of broke the 4th wall in my opinion. I saw this movie originally because I like Alexis Bledel and Schuyler Fisk, so this movie was what I like to call doubling my pleasure. Most of you probably know and love Alexis Bledel from her days as Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. Schuyler Fisk is less well known to the masses, but equally amazing and she totally steals the movie not only with her adorable looks and charm but also with her awesome abilities as a singer-songwriter. In fact, her songs, though there are only a couple of them make the movie in my opinion. I already had this on dvd but wanted to get it on Blu Ray for a hopefully improved picture quality because since its an indie film, the production wasn't A+. The good news is that the picture quality on the Blu Ray is definitely noticeably bettter but I will warn you that, probably since this is an older indie film, it was made as an on demand BD-R title which means its on a burned disk, not a traditional factory pressed disk so be aware of that when you buy it.

Okay, so let me start with my minor critical remarks. I thought Robert Sean Leonard's performance was a bit uneven and, Keanu Reeves was well...Keanu Reeves, which is to say I think they could have made a better casting choice. Their performances convinced me of something I've always believed which is that American actors should steer clear of Shakespeare. Having said that, Denzel Washington and Michael Keaton were great as always, so I guess American actors can do Shakespeare after all. When this movie first came out, I went and saw it in the Theatre every week that summer (and I never see any movie more than once in the Theatre so that should give you some idea of how great it is). I laughed, I cried, and in my opinion, its the best Shakespearean comedy adaptation I've seen. Kenneth Branagh's directing is great as are the performances from most members of the cast including a young Kate Beckinsale in her film debut and Emma Thompson who was amazing. The music is great, the costuming and camera work are as well, I can't say enough good things about this movie. If you like Shakespeare, you'll love this movie and even if you're one of those people who struggle with the language in Shakespeare plays I think you'd still enjoy it because the story is very easy to follow even if you don't understand every word which is spoken.

So, if you like somewhat predictable holiday romances, particularly ones featuring Alicia Witt (who seems to be in more of those movies than anyone other than maybe Lacey Chabert), then you'll like this one. Although I did find the movie a little predictable, the premise (which I won't give away) seemed original which is hard to find these days so overall I thought it was worth seeing.
From the producers of The King's Speech comes the story of a fearless Scottish General, MacBeth (Academy Award~ Nominee Michael Fassbender), whose ambitious wife (Academy Award ~ Winner Marion Cotillard*) urges him to use wicked means to gain power of the throne. A thrilling interpretation of one of Shakespeare's most famous and compelling characters, MacBeth is a dramatic re-imagining of the realities of war-torn times and a tale of all-consuming passion and ambition.

If you're looking for a modernized version or one with highly stylized music/production, you might be a bit bored by this version which is a little quiet and slow going but it has a great ending which makes it more than worth seeing. I think it could have used a bit more music for evoking emotion-it was very stripped down, but that was obviously the director's choice to make it seem more stark (like Macbeth needs help with that). It did make it seem more medieval as opposed to some other films in the same genre which are a bit too modernized to be realistic. I don't want to give away the ending, but suffice it say, you've never seen Birnam wood come to Dunsinane quite like this, very inventive if not true to Shakespeare's intentions but I think he would approve.

This is a bit of an uneven holiday movie in my opinion. The basic premise of this movie is one obnoxious neighbor with an outrageous home holiday display of lights and music annoying his quiet conservative neighbor leading to conflict between them. The idea was fine and the casting was good as well (in theory), but the execution was imperfect. I don't know if it was the fault of the director or the actors themselves, but it just wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. That said, it wasn't so bad I wouldn't recommend it at all or watch it again, just wish it had turned out a little better than it did.

Cute, if predictable, holiday romantic comedy. If you like xmas romantic comedies, rags to riches stories or Danica Mckellar (or all of the above) then you'll like this one.

Bought this for an iPod but I believe it will fit similar gen iPhones. It's a pretty firm case but not as bulky as some others so it will fit in your pocket along with your keys or wallet.
Widescreen/Blu-ray. PG . Hunt for Red October. A contemplative thriller by early 1990's standards, the Hunt for Red October was the first movie based on the successful Jack Ryan novels of Tom Clancy. Hunt for Red October stars Alec Baldwin as eccentric CIA analyst Ryan and Sean Connery as Soviet submarine commander Marko Ramius. In the movie, Ramius sets the plot in motion when he murders his political adviser, burns his orders, and steers his sub Red October towards American waters, hoping to defect Robbed of much of the book's Cold War appeal by the time of it's , the movie was nonetheless embraced by American audiences; it was among the ten highest-grossing movies of 1990.

For those who don't know, this is the 3rd film in the Harry Potter series so you need to watch the first 2 before this one. That said, this is a good continuation of the story. Some might be confused by the replacement of Richard Harris by another actor but Harris passed away after the first 2 films + his character was too important to the story to be written out. Gary Oldman makes his first appearance in the series in this film and is great as always.
