The only Surface product that held up.

I've had a few MS Surface products and as my other reviews can attest, they held up poorly. This original type keyboard was the only one that continued working well.
Actually, after my Surface 3 Type Keyboard stopped being recognized by my Surface, I tried using this old original one I had lying around and it worked perfectly. I'm glad I kept it. It saved me from having to buy a replacement for the Surface 3 keyboard. If your Surface 3 keyboard has failed, try finding the original one.

Fan noise becomes ridiculously bad

The original Surface I bought worked great for a while. Eventually the fan became unbalanced and would make excessive noise. I used to take it to class but it became so loud that I had to stop as it would have been loud enough to distract the whole class. Embarrassing.
My brother also bought one and while he didn't end up having a problem with the fan, the microphone on his was so bad he ended up having to plug in an external one to do Skype calls.
Microsoft seems to continually cheap out on its products with cheap parts. Very disappointed.

This keyboard is pretty nice and I like it much better than the "touch" keyboard. However, after a while my Surface wouldn't recognize it as being connected. For a while I could repeatedly unattach and reattach it and eventually it would recognize it. Eventually I couldn't get it to recognize it at all. I'm continually unimpressed with Microsoft hardware.
