What is the best way to back up my digital pictures?
I have my digital pictures on an external hard drive but also like to back them up on CDs. The last time I did, I was only able to fit 96 pictures on a 700 MB CD.
If you want to put them on CD's then you are limited size wise to 700mb a disc. If you aren't willing to change the resolution on them and thus make the file smaller (this also lowers the quality), then you are probably going to be limited. If you aren't willing to compromise the resolution/size of the file and you aren't willing to compromise the media type (CD in your case) then this may be the best you can do with a CD. I would throw out that if you got a blu-ray burner and blu-rays, then you would have close to 50 gigs of storage power. Otherwise you may want to use a thumb/flash drive. This is the most efficient way to make large quantities of data whether it is photos, music, or otherwise portable and easy to store. If your concern is your external hard drive going bad, then you can always just back up your stuff to more than one hard drive as well. You have a lot of options.
