The tripod worked fairly well for what I needed it for but the quality was average at best. The legs don't want to lock into place and the tripod keeps falling down without pulling on each leg really hard to be able to get it to stay up. I like the adjustability of the tripod.

I purchased this to make YouTube videos and it works great. It was easy to download and install the software on my desktop and laptop. The camera is portable, has good quality video and sound, and fits on a standard camera stand. I love it. It did not have as good as quality video I had thought and the auto focus does not work as well as I hoped it would but you can manually adjust the focus. Overall a good product.

Is doing a wired transfer of files manually simply a matter of plugging a USB 3.0 cable into the computer and the USB 3.0 port of the NAS drive?
If I plug a USB 3.0 cable into the computer USB port and the USB port on the NAS drive, will the computer recognize the drive? Can I then simply copy and paste what I would like to put on the drive? I am using Windows 8.1.
No, the USB 3.0 port on the NAS drive is used for backup of the NAS drive itself.
You create a three point backup system by backing up data to the NAS, then an external hard drive connected to the NAS, and to MyCloud.
This is a good way to make sure that you do not lose your data just in case multiple things go wrong at the same time. E.G. Natural Disaster, Fire, Etc.
Mostly I use this type of backup for a business but it just depends on how important your data is to you.

Can I connect to this device by mounting it as a remote device?
I need to see the files on this device in Windows 10 Explorer.

You can view all the files as a mapped drive to your Windows PC.
You can also go to your start menu and type "\\wdmycloud" and it should bring up the NAS using Windows Explorer.
If you can figure out the IP address to the device you can also type "\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where the X's are the IP address to the device. E.G. 192.168.0.100
You can map either of these as a network location under This PC by clicking on Map a Network Drive, use a drive letter not already in use, and then type the location name.
E.G. You have the WD MyCloud NAS setup with a folder called "Home". You would enter "\\wdmycloud\home" as the network location.
Hopefully this will help or maybe it is already to late.

I want this primarily to store my photos, can I use it to get them off of old PC & my new MacBook Air?
I have an old PC (compaq) & I'm keeping it around because I have no other way to store my pictures. I bought a MacBook Air, and I love it, but I need something that can get the old pictures & store the new. Will this do that?

Can I store mp3 files and access these through Sonos?
Sonos can locate and play music files on my home network and I want to purchase a single storage device just to centralize these files. Will the MyCloud software interfere with Sonos accessing the WD file system?
No, you can setup the device and map it as a network drive so as long as the Sonos software can view a network drive then you are good to go.
I have used two of these in different environments, home and business, and it works great.
It doesn't have "backup" software that you install to sync data to it.
You save your data directly to it and you can access that data from a local device/computer, online, or a mobile app.
