The tripod worked fairly well for what I needed it for but the quality was average at best. The legs don't want to lock into place and the tripod keeps falling down without pulling on each leg really hard to be able to get it to stay up. I like the adjustability of the tripod.

I purchased this to make YouTube videos and it works great. It was easy to download and install the software on my desktop and laptop. The camera is portable, has good quality video and sound, and fits on a standard camera stand. I love it. It did not have as good as quality video I had thought and the auto focus does not work as well as I hoped it would but you can manually adjust the focus. Overall a good product.

Approximately how many songs will it hold in storage?
I would say around 300,000 to 350,000 songs. It depends on the song format and quality.

Will this unit work connected to a computer running on linux (ubuntu)?
This unit is formatted in NTFS which is the Windows partition format. Ubuntu can read NTFS but Windows cannot read the Linux partition format. I don't think the software that comes preinstalled on this drive will function with Ubuntu but you can probably find some other software to backup data for you. so you always keep It connected to the computer via usb cord and it backs up you r music and photos automatically ?
You can create a backup schedule. If you choose to do a direct "sync" then you can keep the external drive plugged in all the time and it will backup as changes are made. You can also do a scheduled update e.g. once a week or month. I suggest a cloud storage system (Carbonite, Acronis, WD MyCloud,...) of some sort and one of these on a scheduled backup that you do not always keep plugged into your computer just in case lightning hits your system or you get a virus that attacks all of you storage devices.

Will this back up the OS and system files as well as data/photo files? Can it create a ghost (clone) image for recovery purposes?
Can it create a cloned image that will not be automatically replaced with updates (to keep an original version of one's computer for recovery purposes)?
No, this item will not create a "ghost" image of a hard drive. This will only backup system files or data files within Windows or the MAC OS. Acronis (software program or web based) is a good solution for what you are looking for.
