Not you're average Greatest Hits album

I've been a fan of Deadlock for many years (since Wolves 2007), and I have all their albums (even the rare "The Arrival" from 2002). That being said, if this was your typical run of the mill greatest hits, I would have had no need to buy this. But, the songs have been reworked and re-recorded which makes this sound like a new album. It's great to hear some of the classics that I've rocked out to for the last 7 years given a modern twist. I still like the originals better, but this album is definitely a great listening experience. The 2nd disc is also a great add-on for longtime fans like myself.

Maybe because my musical taste has changed over the years, but Godsmack albums don't have the same punch to me that they used to have. I bought this one basically because I'm a discography collector and have every other album by them. I honestly wouldn't be disappointed if they hung it up in the near future. Awake will always be my favorite album by them.

Double dip for hardcore fans

Classic album reissued! As with most remastered reissues of albums, it's tough to make a decision to double dip based on reviews. Whether it sounds better, the same, or worst is in the ear of the listener. For me, some of the tracks sound louder, crunchier, more bass-heavy, but others sound worse. Workhorse sticks out as one that was reworked too much. It sounds almost muffled to me, and I still prefer the original. Basically, if you like this album enough, get this new version, but expect to keep both versions since not all tracks on the new one trump the old one.
