Decent Thriller

Kevin Bacon gives a good performance. Supernatural thriller that isn't anything new but isn't bad either. Worth seeing if you're into those kind of movies. The picture quality is really good. Lossless audio brings the atmosphere to life.

Original time travel film

We've seen it before. Guys dies over and over and repeats the same day but Edge of Tomorrow throws in some unique twists to the concept. I'm not a huge Tom Cruise fan but I liked his performance in this movie. He starts out as a coward who doesn't want to fight the alien threat but overtime becomes braver and braver until he's a lean, mean, alien killing machine. It's the uniqueness and twists that really sell this movie. You think you have it figured out but then it throws a curve ball. Not too many movies can pull that off and successfully deliver a satisfying experience but Edge of Tomorrow does it smoothly.
I had problems with a lot of cross talk on my Samsung 55'' 3DTV, It really bugged me and this is one of the few movies in my collection to give me any problems. I can't for certain that it is entirely based on my hardware because I didn't experience this much cross talk in the vast majority of my 3D collection. You may or may not experience any cross talk while watching this movie but I experienced a lot of it.

Prequel to Alien has future potential

You either like it or you don't. It's a prequel to alien except there is really no Xenomorph in the movie. The movie focuses a lot on the human element and the discovery of where human civilization began. But if you have taken a genetics class there's some issues with the science in this movie. The film makers try to give their take on the beginnings of human life and the cast does a decent job with what they're given. I wanted action and potential alien interactions but this movie is very limited in both. The 3D is amazing but the story line is a hit or a miss based on what you're looking for. I watch it for the 3D effects but really hope they give us something to work with in the sequel because this prequel is disappointing.

3D must buy

If you own a 3DTV it is an injustice not to buy this movie. The 3D is some of the best I've ever seen and it quickly became one of my favorite movies of all time because of how well done the 3D was implemented. The story is pretty straightforward but the visuals are some of the best in film. If you were to go into space you will see exactly what is in this film. When it was over I wanted to become an astronaut and regretted majoring in business. If you know someone on the fence about getting into the 3D craze, show them this movie and they will change their mind.

Contains all five movies in individual bluray cases. If you're a collector like me things like this are very appreciated, especially with a lot of studios going with the cardboard route which often results in scratched discs. It's basically all the individual releases of the movies in a single boxset for the price of $37.99. Great price and worth every penny if you like the movies. If you don't like the movies at least you can add five new bluray cases to your collection.

Decent follow-up to the first movie

The original Creepshow had five stories attached to it while this one has three. One dealing with an Indian statue that comes to life, one dealing with a lake monster (which is nothing more than trash bags glued together with additional special effects), and one dealing with a undead hitchhiker. The first two stories I liked. The lake monster one sounds really corny but they do a great job with the special effects and the deaths of individuals. I didn't know it was a bunch of trash bags until watching a documentary on it. The hitchhiker is the weakest one. I usually turn the movie off or if I'm feeling ready for some torture sit through it.. A woman hits a guy with her car and he keeps coming back and tormenting her as a undead zombie. The catch phrase being "Thanks for the ride, lady!" It's more watchable than Creepshow 3 at least. Creepshow 3 will make you want to get a lobotomy.

A sequel worth seeing

They took a less serious approach with the sequel to TCM. It's basically a horror comedy mixed in with insanity. Dennis Hopper performance alone is worth the admission price of the movie. He plays a sheriff who eventually loses his mind and grabs a pair of chainsaws and goes on a chainsaw cutting spree. They could have made the entire movie based on Dennis Hopper going crazy with a chainsaw and it will be worth seeing. Bill Moseley also gives a great performance as one of the family psychopaths. If you're a fan of the TCM series this is one of the better ones.

Well done remake of a classic

This is a retelling of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a more modern feel. Each actor does a decent job with the script they were given but it's not as great as the original. What made the original work so well was the atmosphere and how graphic scenes weren't too fleshed out. In this remake the gore is plenty and the scenery is kind of lost in favor of it. It's still a good remake compared to other terrible remakes of older movies but it doesn't capture the feel of the original movie. If you're a fan of Jessica Biel then it's a bonus point. Personally I'm not but her performance wasn't too terrible given the context of the movie.

Christian Bale delivers a great performance as a psychopath. He's charming, handsome, and a murderer all rolled into one package. Definitely not meant for children. There's a lot of violence and nudity. Worth seeing for the performance Christian Bale gives. Hard to imagine he would become Batman later on in his career.

Giant monsters vs. Robots. Everybody wins.

If you're a fan of Guillermo del Toro previous films (Hellboy, Pans Labyrinth) there's a lot to be found here in similarities. The story line is simplistic, a portal causing giant alien monsters to show up on earth and the humans having to defend themselves with giant robots, but there's also superb action scenes and an engaging human emotion to the story. Seeing it in 3D is an even bigger treat. The 3D is well done but some scenes are a bit dark so controlling the amount of light in the room is crucial. Overall I recommend it.
