Ernest Saves Christmas [DVD] [1988]

John Cherry directs Jim Varney in the comedy Ernest Saves Christmas, which comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, making it quite difficult to recommend this Disney/Buena Vista release to anyone who is not an Ernest fan. There is little here for the average DVD consumer.

A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. Spanish and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the original theatrical trailer. This is a fine release from MGM/UA that should satisfy anyone on the lookout for family friendly fare.

English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Subtitles are accessible in both of these languages as well. Supplemental materials include production notes and theatrical trailers. This disc will entertain the entire family.

I haven't purchased a new TV in almost 10 years so I spent plenty of time studying which TV to buy and I carefully considered each product before making a purchase. After having this TV for a few months I can say that I am very pleased with this product. I've never owned a smart TV because my Apple TV and other hardware consoles make any TV smart, but I actually found some of the features to be quite useful. The picture quality on this product is very very good. The brightness and color quality in a dark room is very good, which was the deciding factor for me getting this TV.
