Is this ntfs or fat32?
Whether a HD is ntfs or fat32 depends on how you format it. Most seem to come in native mode and need to be formatted. You should be given a choice when doing that.

Would it be compatible with my Asus laptop?
How would I know if I could use this to replace my HD in my ASUS Q551LN? I already upgraded my Ram and getting an SSD drive was my next project.
This should work as a replacement for your laptops original harddrive. They are physically the same size, yet the SSD is much faster, quieter, and doesn't create the heat that a standard HD will. I have replaced several laptop HD's with similar items to this one.

I have bought and used Seagate for many many years. I have yet to have trouble with any of them....whether its for a computer, server, external harddrive....whatever. Seagate has always been my first choice.

I have a 2002 insignia computer windows xp pentium 4 cpu
28o ghz 540 mb of ram what hard drive would be best and what memory card
This might be a little tough. Any drive should work.....as long as you have the correct plugs/wiring for it. There are adapters for the power...molex to sata. The only difficulty would be having a sata port on the motherboard of your computer. There are aftermarket boards that would plug directly into the PCI slot on you mobo and then you could plug the drive into that. It can be tricky, but it can be done.
Hopefully your motherboard is one of the early ones that has both the IDE and sata ports on it.

Is this drive compatible with a Dell Optiplex GX280 computer?
This should be as easy a plug-n-play. I have replaced many harddrives in Dell computers with similar drives from Seagate. I have yet to have any type of issues, conflicts, or incompatibility.

Can I use this internal storage drive (Model # ST310005N1) for backup of the main computer data?
You should be able to name this drive as a Back-up, or whatever name you decide,or just let your system assign a drive letter to it, then start to back up your main system. I used mine to back up one of my servers.
