I used this to hook up the ps3 hdmi port to a viewsonic projector that was analog VGA port and it worked. You definitely need to switch the ps3 to stereo on the audio settings or else you're going to get a lot of static.

I got this for a quick roadtrip, and it held up pretty well. it isn't designed to be moved around between cars, so if you decide to use the suction cup or vent clip... it's not at all easy to switch between the two. the cradle is decently made, but i'm highly likely getting a better phone dock for my car.
