I have used these discs before but this last batch has been much more particular in burning successfully on the first attempt. I haven't nailed down the cause of that issue yet. Retrying when it errors out seems to be working.

could this be mounted in an inside window, facing out?
Im looking for something to overlook my parking area/back yard, but I dont want to put it outside where it might be seen. Would this work?

You could but it would not be very practical because of how the doorbell is attached to the wall. The USB port is against the wall and not accessible when it is installed. If you had a way to run a very long USB cable to it and mount the panel outside, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Typically these doorbells are replacing existing hardwired ones and the ring can get all the power it needs from those wires.
