what memory card do I need for the GPS?

This depends on the GPS requirements. Most use an SD card. Speaking for a Garmin nuvi 255, I use the sandisk SDHC memory card. I recently had to upgrade to an 8GB card because the Garmin update had outgrown my 2GB card. You do not need the high speed cards, required by high end photography, unless specifically called for by the GPS manufacturer. Hope this helps
