These are decent speakers. My issue is that they are supposed to be indoor/outdoor, however until you open the box and read the instructions you don't find that they can't be hung outside in direct sunlight or have rain or snow fall on them.

Does outdoor mean that they are waterproof or do they need to be protected when outdoors?
They need protection when used outdoors. The instructions read that they can be placed outdoors, but cannot be in direct sunlight or have rain or snow fall on them.

Do these speakers need a power souce (outlet or battery)?
No power source needed. They only need wiring from a receiver or amplifier.
