Upgraded from an iPad air. It's faster, clearer screen, and better sound. Going from 2 to 4 speakers makes a big difference when watching movies or listening to music. While iPads are extremely overpriced, they last a long time. Just traded in an iPad Gen 2 and gave an iPad Air to a family member.

how large of a room can the speaker accommodate?
I would say a living room. 35' x 20' That's how big my basement is and it fills up fine. When I'm about 20 feet away, it's starts losing it's volume and clarity in a moderately noisy room. You would need to buy the next size Bose speaker if you want to fill up a larger room.

I have an IPOD Classic, will this speaker work with it? I can't find a blue tooth setting on the IPOD
While your iPod does not have Bluetooth, you can still connect your iPod with a 3.5mm audio cable.

Can I connect a usb drive directly and play mp3 files ?
You cannot connect a USB drive to this speaker. There is no internal software to play music files. You must have an external mp3 compatible device, like an smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Can you use it with tv that is not bluetooth enabled?
You could, but it's not recommended. The footprint is too small to replace a soundbar or home theater sound system. If you had a small apartment or bedroom, you could pull it off. For a room the size of a living room or master bedroom, I would recommend a soundbar. It cost the same, but you will have larger volume, and range with a subwoofer.

Yes, it's compatible with all iphones, ipads, and devices with bluetooth compatibility. I have an iPhone 6 and iPad Air. Works great!
