Can this unit be permanantly mounted in custom dash and hard wired. Would like to build a custom console and moint this in my truck.
My only concern would be that the unit still needs to connect with the GPS satellites. That means you'll probably have to mount it fairly high and build the enclosure with something that won't block the signals. There's also no provision for plugging in an external speaker.

don't want bluetooth but do want lifetime updates and large clear screen. is there similar model for me? or get this one on sale and don't ever use bluetooth?

Yes, the cord plugs into the back of the fan. It's secure in use, but can be unplugged for storage.
