are the large burners on the left supposed to go off and on when set on high
Yes they are. The reason they turn off is because they have reached high and it won't allow it to go higher then high. So it turns off to cool to a poo t to be able to hear back to high.

Where do I find a photo of the top of the stove showing the 5 cooking elements?
Top 5 elements. One in the middle is keeps warm. Then you have two large two small. One large can be made to be a smack me. You can choose to heat the whole burner or the inner.
