How did Apple let this go through?

After using a powerbeats for long time, I was excited with the ability to have this around the neck and have multiple options for ear holdings.
The ear buds are just annoying to hold in the ear, the grips for adjusting the size are some weird plastic and they feel annoying, the neck band is oldish and the extensions to the ear are just horrible.
Its really surprising how did apple even let them get into the market.
