This is one of my favorite bands. And this album is a progressive, melodic, soulful, ride. While being all these things it is still undoubtedly the recognizable A7X sound. Nightmare kicking off the album is a classic A7X jam that you can bang your head to similar to jams like crital acclaim, bat country, and welcome to the family follows suit. Our first bit of soul and emotion comes with Dangerline similar feel to sidewinder gives you somewhat of an empathetic feel into what M. Shadows is wailing about. Then So Far Away follows up with more soul being about the late Rev. You can really feel the groups grief within the music of losing a dear lifelong friend. Other highlights include: tonight the world dies, fiction, and the mammoth closer, save me. Perfect way to end this outstanding record in my opinion. The album as a whole has a great flow that keeps the listnener interested through out the 70+ minutes. This band ability to mix metal jams, ballads, and lengthy compostions in al the right places is a talent that other groups need to take notes on. Variety is the spice of life to albums that break the 40 min rule. Nightmare is a wellcrafted piece of music showcasing the progressive metal side of A7X.

This is my first Gojira album and I slept on it for awhile. But tracks like Silvera and Stranded pulled me in. The album has a nice flow but its hard to judge the quality of the rest of the tracks because of how stellar the two mentioned above are. There are different time signatures across all songs offering interesting variation. Vocals are sufficient across but again really shine on the two main tracks. Definitely a great release for metal in 2016 and worth looking into if death metal with techinal and progressive tendencies is your cup of tea \m/

More like a 2.5. Some great tracks on there with the standout "counting stars" but the album has a sloppy a lingering flow amd about half filler. I can sit through it but its mostly background music

I am primarily a metal fan but I do like all types of music. This is a good r&b album to relax to with decent song writing, pace, and some very catchy melodies.
