Easy to Use Streaming Device

The current version of AppleTV is loaded with plenty of apps to choose from in order to view TV programs, movies (some free ones too!), sports and music. When it is paired with another AirPlay compatible device (iPhone, iPad, iTouch or Mac) you can easily send your music to the AppleTV and enjoy it! I use mine connected to a whole house music system to enjoy the music everywhere.

Play DVDs and Blu-rays on this Sony Blu-ray disc player. Enjoy high-definition video with detailed and clear images, thanks to the 1080p maximum resolution, and incredible audio quality lets you hear every drop of sound. The compact Sony Blu-ray disc player fits in most spaces, and it also includes a USB port so that you can play from flash drives.
Bought two players and two optical/coax digital to analog converters to hook up to older HDMI TVs. Sound works UNTIL I start the DVD, then I receive noise. Tried each audio setting on the DVD but no luck. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi Chris, I hope you resolved the audio issue, but if you didn't, here's my take on your situation. Most optical/coax digital to analog converters are not compatible with Dolby 5.1 audio unless specifically made to convert Dolby 5.1 audio to 2 channel analog audio. The DVD audio must be set to PCM only, as this is the setting the optical/coax digital to analog converter is looking for. If you already made the correct changes in the DVD audio settings and it still doesn't work correctly, power your DVD down, unplug it, wait 15 minutes, plug it in, power it up and start the setup process from the beginning like you did when you first connected it. Make sure to go to the audio settings menu and change Dolby Digital to off and PCM only. Have a great day!

ChromeCast can not connect directly to speakers. It can connect to a TV first, then connect the TV to an amplifier via a digital or analog cable, then connect speakers via two sets of 2 conductor speaker cables.

Dolby 5.1 and digital surround sound
If I have a home theater blu ray system running the optical out from home theater to optical of the TV.
Will this give me surround on recorded shows that are in 5.1 or dolby digital since,it was mentioned
Tivo doesn't , have a a digital sounnd connection.Bottom line will I totally lose having surround sound
on recorded shows with this model.

TiVo has an optical digital output that when connected will give you Dolby Digital 5.1

HD antenna & free wireless
I cancelled my basic package with Direct TV! New HD antenna works great (49 channels). I have free wireless internet at my apartment.. I want only basic local channels (no movies), will the $50 TiVo Roamio DVR with $10/month service work?
The basic Roamio has an HD antenna connection and WiFi connectivity. So yes, it will work for your situation quite nicely. Enjoy!
