Tough choice from many options

Found out my new HP tower was not compatible with my current Acer monitor. Tower does not have a place for the blue plug, and the monitor does not have a place for the HDMI cable. I like a big screen at an affordable price. This seemed to fit the bill. As normal, advice that it was "plug and play" ready did not come true. It's back in the box waiting. Good price for it, though.

Well, took it home. got it out of the box. relied on the employees opinion that that was as simple as it gets, and will be up and running just like my old tower. Ha, Ha. I told him I'm a tech idiot but he insisted there would be no problem. Basically, just plug and play. The first thing I found out was that my monitor was not compatible as it does not use the HDMI, and the tower has no place for the blue plug. It's back in the box. This is being done on my old system.

I was told it was easy to set up. I could take it out of the box, hook it up, and away it goes. Not exactly true. There were questions asked of me during set up that I did not know the answers to. Frustrated, I put it back in the box and am just using the modem I already have.

Cox cable said I should upgrade my modem from the one I was using so that I could take advantage of faster speeds. There was a small problem on their side getting it set up. the SB number didn't match. I have not experienced faster anything, and contrarily, seem to be finding the going slower. I don't think it's this product, but something else, somewhere. I like this new modem and am glad I purchased it. I did do the speedcheck.net thing and all that seems alright.
