I could just have the Playstation Vue subscription charge to my credit card each month but I prefer to buy the gift cards so I get Best Buy rewards points and airline miles. I couldn't afford $159 per month for cable and internet anymore so I decided to get rid of my cable. I got 25 mb internet from Centurylink for $29.99 per month, Netflix for $9.99 per month and Playstation Vue Slim package for $35 per month. My cable and internet bill is now $75 per month. I use my Chromecast to watch in my bedroom. I also like taking my Chromecast to the mountains when we stay at our condo. I got an Edimax mini travel router to get around the WiFi login page at the resort and I can watch any channels they don't have plus all my VUDU, Disney, and Google Play movies. I got my friends one as a housewarming gift because they downgraded to basic cable. They love how they can watch On Demand and the kids can watch Disney On Demand as well as the digital copies of movies they own. Everyone should have a Chromecast!

Great Sound

I've been using a Braven BRV-1 for the last three years. It doesn't seem as loud as it used to, I'm not sure if it's age, usage or the fact that I always leave it in my car unless it's charging (it's been left in my car for some -17 degree winter nights and some 90 degree summer days). Anyway, it was time for an upgrade. My friends have a UE Boom and I liked it so I decided to get a Boom 2. I love this speaker! I keep it in my car all the time. The stock stereo in my Xterra is too much of a hassle to replace so I use my Bluetooth speaker for music. The Boom 2 fits in the console just below radio like a glove. The alcove amplifies the already loud speaker so much you can hear it clearly outside the vehicle (that's not what I'm going for but I noticed it one day when I hopped out to run into 7-11). It also fits perfectly in a cup holder. I used to like the square shape of my Braven but now I'm discovering how much more I can do with the round shape of the UE Boom 2. I use my speaker for disc golf, hiking, snowboarding, and just hanging out around the campfire, hot tub, or patio. The round shape fits perfectly in the side water bottle pockets of my disc golf bag, Camelbak, and camping backpack. It's waterproof so it's great for tubing, the hot tub, or the pool. The app is great for setting the equalizer and seeing the battery level and when I connect it to my friend's Boom with the Party-Up mode the two of them are crazy loud! I can't imagine connecting 3 or 4 let alone 50! Great battery life, love the flat cable charger included. If you're looking for a great Bluetooth speaker check out the UE Boom 2, you won't be disappointed.

I Got No Strings!

I've owned every pair of Jaybirds beginning with the BlueBuds X. The Jaybird X3 is definitely the best bluetooth headphone I have ever used. I use my bluetooth headphones on my train commute to work, at the gym, and snowboarding. I just don't understand why people want to wear wired headphones that are constantly snagging, pulling, yanking your phone off treadmills, etc. Plus, most phone manufacturers are doing away with headphone jacks anyway, so cut the cord! I don't have any problems with audio stutter (as long as the headphones are in my right pants or jacket pocket), they sound amazing (love being able to adjust the EQ in the app) and the new earfins fit my ears perfectly (I'm thinking about buying a backup pair because every pair of Jaybirds I've owned before I lost a fin or bud and the small and mediums fall out of my ears) The battery lasts 8 hours easily, I actually get a little more than 8. Last weekend we drove to Winter Park to Christmas tree hunt and I wore my X3's the entire time to see how long the battery would last. I wore them from 9:00am until 4:30pm playing music non-stop (even when I wasn't listening I let them play to see how long the battery would last) and they still had 20% left when we got back. If I had one small complaint it would be the little battery charger clip, I'm afraid I'm going to lose it. I still have my Bluebuds case so I keep the headphones in the case and the extra earfins, buds, and charger clip in the little leather pouch that came with the X3's. I wish the X3's came with the case the X2's came with, that one is the best. I'm the type of person that when I find something I like like shoes or something I buy a backup so when the original wears out I have another one in my closet. At $99 (Black Friday sale price) I'm tempted to buy another pair of X3's for the day this pair wears out. They are really that good. One note, they REALLY cancel outside noise so if I'm doing something where I need to be aware of my surroundings (like snowboarding), I only wear the right one in my ear and let the left just hang on my shoulder.

Too Big

I had a Fitbit Charge HR but the rubber on the band and body started bubbling so I was looking for a replacement. I wanted a tracker that has heart rate monitoring, and is waterproof. I didn't need dive watch waterproofing, just enough for the pool, hot tub, beach, and most importantly, snowboarding. I really liked the Garmin Vivoactive HR. It was a great tracker, very accurate with my steps, heart rate, and GPS on my hikes. The only problem I had with the watch is it is too big and bulky. It really protrudes from your wrist! It looks like an ankle monitor. If they could make this watch the size of say, the Fitbit Blaze or Surge it would be a winner. Also, I think Garmin should tweak their app (it's like looking at a flight simulator video game control panel) and app store (Garmin Connect IQ) a bit. There are some modes like Hike, for example, that Garmin should work to integrate into their environment rather than rely on third party developers and an app store with buggy interactions (downloading a new watch face and the Hike app took several attempts). In the end though, it mostly came down to how big the watch is. I was banging it on stuff and it would catch on sleeves I was inserting my arm into. I felt like I was going to hit it on something and break it.

Must have for Moto Z Force

The Moto Z Force is one of the new smartphones that has embraced the USB-C connector and I think that's great. However, the Turbo Charger that comes with the phone is a one piece affair. This means you can't use the included USB-C cable with your laptop because it doesn't disconnect from the power brick. It also makes me nervous carrying the Turbo charger in my messenger bag for fear of damaging the part where the cord connects to the plug. Being one piece also makes the myriad of USB chargers I've accumulated over the years useless. That's why I picked up this cable. Now I leave my Turbo charger at home plugged in next to my night stand and I carry this cord with an old USB plug in my bag. With this cord I can also connect my Z Force to my laptop. I recommend this to anyone that has USB-C charger that does not detach from the power plug.
