Nice cord: installation needs to be right

It's a fine quality cord but the Best Buy installer put it on wrong. The electrical connections were correct, but the metal clamp fastener, an important safety feature because it keeps the connections from ripping out of the unit and exposing a live wire. The installer screwed one screw all the way in, and so the other wouldn't engage, so he left it that way. You have to start off each screw and then screw each of them in a few turns until they are both tight. Anyone with a basic understanding should know how to do this, which makes me wonder about the training the installers receive. They were very nice and professional people, but you need to check their work...

Excellent, with stainless drum

This is a very solid unit. Our old one, a top-loader, would come unbalanced as well as move around from vibration. Not this unit: it's heavy and solid-feeling. It's also way quieter than our old one. Very surprised how well built it looks and the overall quality for the price. It washes very well. Added the detergent is easy because the little pullout drawer is convenient. The controls are a bit touchy. For instance, if you lean over it or brush against it, you can easily trigger unintended button-pushes. It happened while I was installing, and to my wife a few times. It hasn't happened since we realized it was sensitive though, so not a big deal. The only other con was the bizarrely complicated method for switching the door hinge. It was like 15-20 screws and a bunch of steps. Tip: when you read the instructions, make sure you scan until you find the description of the unit you purchased. Sounds obvious, but it was hard to understand and I selected the wrong one at first and inadvertently rotated the glass. This unit doesn't need the glass rotated. So it's a bunch of screws but not too hard. Very happy with the purchase. It is well-built, heavy, cleans well, and quiet. Definitely recommend.

Excellent dryer - can be side-vented

Bought this to replace our unit that died. So far we are very pleased. It's a lot quieter and faster than our old one. The construction is solid and it doesn't move at all from vibration. My situation called for side-venting which is pretty rare evidently. Read on if you have the same situation. I ordered a kit and was able to install the side vent without taking the whole unit apart. It was a bit worrisome at first because you really have to hit the unit hard to remove the metal punch outs. I put tape over the edges of to prevent cuts and stuck my arms in at floor level, working blind. It was a pain but not too difficult. Don't be afraid to get the kit and do this. Some of the machines have to be completely taken apart and this one doesn't. The hardest part is getting the screw in with your arms stuck through the bottom of the machine. Once that single screw is installed, it's easy.
