You should always get steel washer hoses. The rubber ones can crack and flood your laundry area. You should also inspect the hoses regularly and replace if any signs of wear or leakage.

Seems to work well, some cycles very long

I previously had an LG front loader, but wanted to try this top-loading model for the jumbo capacity (5.7cu ft) since I have a king-sized bed. I've only had it a month. It seems to clean as well as my previous LG, which is a relief. Some of the steam cycles are so long that they would be impractical to use. That's a disappointment since the sanitize cycle on my older LG took only 2hrs15 minutes.
IF YOU ARE SHORT, make sure you can reach the bottom of the wash tub to empty it. I'm 5'2" and I really have to stretch to get that last sock. This model might not be suitable for someone shorter who might not want to use a step stool to unload.

Can one add more items to the load once the cycle has started? So often I think of just one more thing I want to add.
Yes, you can hit the pause button, wait for the lid to unlock, and then add extra items and hit start. There's a light indicating when during the cycle you can safely add to the load.
