i liked this model good resolution to 1080p, 3D ready, wireless casting available. its has many things going for it but the epson 3500 is better for just a few bucks more. this should be more at $600 for the quality. its great for a first time buy movies look great but lag on gaming is a bit noticeable not too bad but the issue is more with the brightness.

Id suggest the chromecast to those who already have internet. This is nice to stream to a projector or non smart tv. Drag back is that its screen mirror only so your device has to be on at all time when streaming. This feature is available on the chromecast dongle as well.
The screen mirroring works well but again for 20 dollars less id suggest the chromecast over this if you already have Internet access. This device works without Internet access.

From what ive seen this appears to have a limited RAM capacity most forums say this isn't able to be upgraded, not sure if its because its a best buy blue line but this was for a college kid and for their uses its great. If doing major animation this will get you by but there are better options for those kind of programs.

Can you hook up external speakers and if so what kind of cables.
No you cant. This only has inputs not output source. It does however come with speakers built in, if looking for something to take to the backyard then you are good but you can't lets say stream a movie using Chromecast to the projector and try to link a Bluetooth speaker to it, it just doesn't work.
If you were planning on having a audio system it all has to be hooked up to something else like a receiver and just sent the image to the projector.

Is the 740 HD the new model to the 730 HD
Yes it is but you are better off with a higher model or the BenQ is a good choice although it has been reported that many see the rainbow affects since it is a DLP.
As for Epson move to the $800models as they have a better picture and more options for inputs.

The software is what you need to print, scan. For wireless setup you will need to set up to your wireless router. For fax a phone line is required.
